The Guacamole diet

Post by loCAtek »

I may have mentioned I've gone vegan? It may be permanent who knows, but starting last month, my detox diet cut out much of everything but fruits and vegetable juices. Cheating on any hunger pangs was done in the form of avocados and/or guacamole, which was just that little jump start of Monounsaturated fat to keep me going ...for the month of Ramadan.
Yeah, that was my motivation for discipline: if ten bazzillion Muslims could do it, so could I!

And, I did.

I cut out my morning coffee, my break burrito, and all meat/dairy/eggs including fish for the day. No carbs, no non-fruit source sugars, no animal fats (hedging sometimes with whey protein in various forms) and near to no mono vegetable fat for most of the course. Fortunately, I really do enjoy, V-8 low sodium, because that's basically what I've been living on for the past ~30 odd days.

...and I feel great, really great! and I look great too. 8-)

Honestly, the only 'bad' day, was the fourth or so, while on the cycle home. Yes, I'm still exercising to keep the metabolism up, plus I still have to get to work.
...It wasn't exhaustion per se, 'cause I made the whole ride home, but my system was protesting pretty loudly- 'We WANT more blood sugar!'

'We WANT!'

'We WANT!!!'

So, instead of fainting, I fed it as much cranberry juice as it wanted -'nom-nom-nom' Resisting that feeling of starvation, my body began fueling itself, from it's excess stores and I began to slim down.

[Just a note: I wasn't ever really 'fat', besides 'gordo' or 'gordita' is not an insult in my culture. We are typically thin, because life in the Mexican desert is harsh. Getting big enough to be overweight, was more like being 'Phat' in Western culture- we'd managed to live it up, despite hard circumstances. So, calling someone fat, is more of a compliment ;)]

Regardless, the typical Western diet of dairy and meat, on a Latina, can make her more curvacious, so I'd decided to revert to my people's traditional diet, which was more vegan and included more avocados, nature's most perfect food, yum. To Jazz it up over the weeks, I'd try different recipes of guacamole, sans nachos, which satisfied just fine! :)

Month two: Starting a few days ago: Re-introducing carbs to the diet, in the from of soy tofu (How do you do? Long time no see?) Gotta ingest fiber again slowly, but tofu is friendly, so long as it's not fried. It's soft-y but satisfying!

Carbs are just for the month ahead, at least that long as a vegan. Time will tell how far after that.
