Snapshot: What's in your lunch bucket today?

Post by Guinevere »

Friday July 2, it is a spectacular day here in the Northeast, and most of the other senior lawyers have already come and gone for the day. What I'm still doing here is anyone's guess (actually, I'm taking a half day *next* friday when my sister and the boyz come to visit). I ran over to the local farmer's market to see what I could see, and maybe find lunch. I found a delish little treasure. A stand selling homemade middle eastern food. Today I chose the falafel wrap, with humus, maters, onion, and lettuce -- all handmade by a local egyptian man, wrapped to order by his wife. And I couldn't resist the homemade baklava that melted in my mouth. Delish -- this could become a friday tradition!

So what are you having for lunch today (or what did you already have)?

Your lunch sounds much better than mine, Guin! I've got leftover sausage and onions (sauteed in olive oil, with a dash of balsamic at the end), and red cabbage coleslaw made with a raspberry vinaigrette. Some tomato juice and a few pistachios for a snack later.

I found a little corner gas station, out in the middle of nowhere, run by an Indian couple. They have a "buffet" that consists of 6 crockpots of who knows what Indian food. I could stand there all day just smelling. For $4.99 you get a few dips out of each pot and a curried chicken leg on top. A bit spicy but they realize they are cooking for Anglo-Saxons who don't do the super spicy stuff well so it's toned down a few degrees. Fabulous.

I carry a cooler with me in my truck at work. Today was typical: two sandwiches (Black Forest turkey & Black Forest ham) on kaiser rolls (usually wheat, but not today) with lettuce, onion, and a little mayo. That, a bag of baked Lays and some G2.

On Friday I had a veggie pizza at a friend's house.

leftovers again! Chicken and couscous, broccoli. Forgot my afternoon snack so I'll have to go to the gas station across the street for something.
