Devil and the deep blue sea
Re: Devil and the deep blue sea
Is it wrong that I laughed because Tom Brady says his feelings are hurt?

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

High-sterical. And right on point!

FINISHED THE JOB!!!Guinevere wrote:So goes the conventional wisdom, MGM. I disagree for several reasons:
1. There is nothing harder than repeating as champions. Even if you make the title game.
2. Tommy and Belichick are on an incredible roll this season and the team is in top form. They are a tad less beat up than Seattle.
3. The odds are a pick 'em. Even the pros can't decide.
4. Glendale. Site of the Pats most painful and humiliating defeat ever. That's motivation in and of itself.
5. Brady wants #4 sooooo badly.
6. Last meeting of the teams - 24/23 Seattle in Seattle. 2013.
7. Never ever underestimate the power of the hoodie.
I'd be a fool to say I was confident, but I do know the Pats have the ability and capacity to win, with Tommy leading the way. That's good enough for me!
TB12 - best QB ever!

I asked @hub this morning, "Who won the StupidBowl?" He replied that the Pats did but it looked like the SeaSquawks threw the game at the end. Thank dog the season is over.

Congrats to Guin and her Pats.
Questionable play call by the Seahawks at the end but that's why they play the game.

Hello, member of Patriots Nation here, too! Actually born a Pats fan, in fact.
Thanks for the congrats!

Re: Devil and the deep blue sea
Yeah.... that's a win with an asterisk if ever there was one. The Pats certainly were not expecting anything other than Lynch - but that number 21 made a terrific read on the receiver and really stepped up for the INT. It wasn't luck - he worked for it. PC would have been a genius if the play-call had worked but it didn't so... goat!
I have to admit, I was for Seattle but for some strange reason was cheering every play of young Edelman, our Kent State QB from back in the day... one of those days anyway... and was delighted that he got the winning TD. He used the same move in the 3rd quarter, turning the cornerback inside out brilliantly on the goal line, but Brady zapped the ball high and wide instead of taking the easy 6.
Almost all the commercials were rubbish - the half-time show was about 15 minutes too long. Thankfully my daughter was here to translate the inane words (make that "unfortunately"). I'd say "lyrics" except there's nothing lyrical involved
Harrumph!

I give kudos to Pete Rose for the Sketchers ad - a man who can laugh at himself is a good man indeed.
And the Snickers Brady Bunch ad was a hoot.

Yeah - the Brady Bunch one was good. Sadly, my wife and daughter were nattering through that one - they missed it and I couldn't hear it. I kept telling them to talk while the game was on and shut up at the commercial breaks but they didn't get it. It was disappointing after all that getting out of the bath teasing in the days before that Kate Upshaw's "more to come" was not at all more... not at all.

You can find the ads online today if you want to see it again. Steve Buscemi as Jan 'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!' - freakin hilarious!

I watched mostly in the hope that Katy Perry would be eaten by a tiger or ride a firework into outer space, but unfortunately neither transpired, and now I am doomed to be hearing her irritating mouth-noises on the radio for another season (when oh when will her career be over?).
As for the sportsball event itself, the last two minutes were almost worth the wait. That was some crazy-ass shit.

Re: Devil and the deep blue sea
Why me? See what nice things I said about your #21? And Julian Edelman? See that I cheered the winning touchdown?
Get it right - I root against the Steelers, Cincinnati, Baltimore (who doesn't?) and Ball Bettercheck, the king of defellatio. There's a common thread... but it's nothing to do with the Patriots.

Re: Devil and the deep blue sea
No asterisk, Major. The Pats outplayed the Hawks for most of the game; if you were to score each play and say which team got the better of the play, you might be up to 70% in favor the Pats. The Hawks made a handful of big plays, one with some considerable luck, to be in the game. Big plays are part of the game, but you can't say that the team that dominated play gets an asterisk. Too much whining about the play call at the end. It was a great game between the two best teams who did what they do well.
