Oh, you Americans and your overblown ostentatiousness!

There is only one trophy worth admiring, subtle and small, but perfectly formed.

The Ashes... The urn of Studd's:

IN AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE
OF ENGLISH CRICKET
WHICH DIED AT THE OVAL, 29 August 1882,
DEEPLY LAMENTED BY A LARGE CIRCLE OF
SORROWING FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES
R.I.P.
When Ivo goes back with the urn, the urn;
Studds, Steel, Read and Tylecote return, return;
The welkin will ring loud,
The great crowd will feel proud,
Seeing Barlow and Bates with the urn, the urn;
And the rest coming home with the urn."

WARRIORS JUST BEAT CAVS - - - - 129 TO 120!

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

History Can Be Made Tonight...

As you can see from my above post I've never been a big NBA fan but I never got tired of the grit and determination that the Philadelphia Warriors can display when the chips are down. I imagine there will be a rousing parade in Center City on Wednesday.

YAY! team:

An ashtray.  The greatest trophy in the world, at least according to Gob, is an ashtray.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Now, if only the SF MLB team was only as good as the Golden State Warriors.
I feel really good about the fact that even though it was pouring down rain, (regular readers of this space may recall my talking about this) I took my son to watch the victory parade in downtown 'frisco the last time the Giants won the The World Series...

I'm really glad he will have that memory...

Especially since (given the way the Giants are playing) it will probably be his son (or grandson) who has that same opportunity... :?

There is only one trophy worth admiring, subtle Ugly and small squat, but perfectly formed] with a shape copied from the Greeks, like St George.
