It's been a weird summer here. Overall coolish, and some really really cold days with wild weather. The summer started cold, with 40s and 50s and stormy over Memorial Day. We had a few hot days in June, and some typical 90 degree days in July, but not as many as typical. We barely got to 90 in August at all. Plus we had two weekends in late July with Nor'easters where the temps never got out of the 60s. We've also had torrential rain fall that lasts for hours, in between week - two week dry spells where is feels dry as a bone.

Not really a great summer for swimming or beaching, and its still not even 60 yet today. Hoping to be on the beach with my Swede tomorrow and Monday, though, when it is supposed to be 70-80. Sunday, Harvey remnants bring rain for the day.

But all weather is local, so YMMV.

Hitting 97 right now on our garden thermometer...

ETA:

Just hit the big 100...

At least there's a slight breeze; we've got every window in the house open and some fans going...this is obviously going to be one of the two or three days of the year that I regret not having AC...

No cooking tonight; I think I'll pick up some sushi and sashimi...(Or maybe we'll go out and sit in the nice air conditioned restaurant...)

I just checked the temperatures for where Dale and Joe live, and Dale is enjoying a toasty 106 and Joe is being treated to a balmy 105...

I heard on the radio about an hour ago that it was 117 in Santa Rosa. I'm not sure I believe that but that's what they said....

I heard on the newz that SF broke the all time record with the temp reaching 106!

btw:

It was actually cooler in Las Vegas than Pacifica today! :o

edited to add:
It was the hottest day San Francisco has ever seen, said the National Weather Service, whose records date to June 1874. Before Friday, the all-time high for San Francisco was 103 degrees on June 14, 2000.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

San Francisco Soars to All-Time Record High of 106 Degrees

A blistering heat wave bearing down on the Bay Area Friday broke an all-time temperature record in San Francisco, and some cities could soon be etched into the record books.

Downtown San Francisco sizzled at 106 degrees during the mid-afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service, breaking a previous all-time high of 103 degrees set in 2000.

Good thing we live out near the ocean, where it only got up to 103...

How Hot Is It?

Cool here in 19348... almost the entire day. My apartment is built on top of a concrete slab -- I had the geo-thermal heat pump running most of the day.

I'm prepared to greet a very early fall and winter. Two more weeks -- pushing it.

We had a light frost here yesterday morning - I was not happy.

The Latest: San Francisco Heat Breaks Record for Second Day

1:30 p.m.

San Francisco's transit system is cutting its speed to guard against possible heat-warped rails as the Bay Area breaks heat records for a second day.

The National Weather Service says the temperature in San Francisco reached 94 degrees even before noon Saturday, setting the heat record for Sept. 2. The city reached an all-time high of 106 degrees (41 degrees Celsius) Friday.

Forecasters are predicting more heat records throughout Northern California, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 115 degrees in some places.

Bay Area Rapid Transit spokeswoman Alicia Trost says the rail line was reducing its speed until late Saturday because hot weather can expand and shift metal tracks.

Trost says the rail system also has paramedics and air-conditioner technicians on standby during the heat wave.

Yeah, a similar accident happened to me some years ago. I had to sue the driver in small claims court.

112 just east of Ontario airport yesterday rising to 115 somewhere before San Bernardino. Give thanks and praise for A/C!

I saw on the weather app that Santa Cruz hit 91 today. Have mercy! People there think 82 is oppressive.

A dwarf crashed into me once but I didn't bother suing since it was obvious he was extremely short on cash.

Triple digits plus heavy smoke continues from all the fires. Worst fire season I can remember; don't know that we've had but a drop or two of rain since May.
