All clear here, and we're having a beautiful summer morning, and since my office is shut down b/c of no power/servers/email, I'm all set to chill and relax.

My beloved Vermont, however, has been devastated by the rain and resultant flooding. Here's one video of the Ottaquechee River, and the covered bridge into Quechee, VT (a place I spend a lot of time, and a community where I am considering purchasing a vacation home):

More video and shots of the state-wide flooding:

I'm praying that all my friends and colleagues in Vermont are safe.

Glad all is well with you, Guin. That Quechee flooding video is something. On the bright side, now you might be able pick up a real estate bargain in Vermont.

Unfortunately, my office has power today, so I'm "working." Apparently, several neighborhoods around here -- but not mine -- have been without electricity since Saturday night. The electric company told some friends of ours in the next neighborhood over that it may be 5 days before their power is restored. (We'll be hosting their frozen foods in the interim, but there just may not be enough room to store the ice cream. ;) )
GAH!

I could make a rude coment about a certain denizen of Vermont but I shall refrain.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

More devastation - the base lodge at Killington destroyed, another major highway (and there aren't many in VT), impassable and collapsed. How much can one small state take?

Looks horrific Guin. Is that bridge in the youtube clip heritage listed?

Good to hear, but the link above isn't working for me.

The Quechee bridge was not (it was a modern replica). This one, however, was (built in 1870):

Still no power here (as expected)--the generator is hammering away, I expect the power to be fixed sometime tomorrow.

Picked up about three cords worth of fallen trees...YESSS! Free firewood!

Well that's not precisely what I wrote, so a quotation is improper. But I've fixed the link.

There was no single button for, 'YouTube link that didn't work, contained in Guinevere's post, but not a direct quote of hers.'

AnywayZ, glad you understood what I meant, I'm kinda lazy and crazy that way, and will probably do it again. 8-)
