We had to start sometime.

The toys from the 1950's/early 60's were THE BEST!
Real metal with razor sharp edges, chemistry sets with all kinds of weird stuff, lots of small parts that would choke ANYONE.
btw: I still have my model HO Marklin train set from 1956 and it still runs!

I had Breyer's horses, too! Recently I was at the big feed, fencing, westernwear, hardware, all things Montana 'Big R' store and was touched to see a display of them. I haven't seen any in years.
I still want a real one, someday.

Well, it is an Argos catalogue and not all of it. It was for people of, how can I put this politely, less well off and not totally taste oriented, disposition. (My mam for instance.)Sue U wrote:That's not the 1976 that I remember (although quite truthfully, 1976 is probably a year best forgotten). Where are the disco mirror-balls, platform shoes, leisure suits, Qiana shirts and fat gold chains with coke spoons on them?
Mind you, in 1976 I was 17 years old and all I wanted at Xmas was to get into the old man's booze cupboard and into my girlfriends knickers. Too good at getting into the former, not so good at getting into the latter.

Well, that explains a lot. As I've always said about the 70s, "Everyone was on drugs. How do you think Gerald Ford got to be President?"

"Everyone was on drugs" also explains the fashion choices:

Ah, memories.

It's a wonder we didn't all turn out like Scooter!

Well, if you're happy not being handsome and debonair, I suppose that's your choice.

Fixed that for you."Everyone was on drugs. How do you think Gerald Ford Jimmy Carter got to be President?"

Re: What we wanted for Xmas 1976
What I wanted for Christmas in 1976? That's an easy one!

Make mine a 455/4-speed with A/C, "Honeycomb" wheels, 3.08 limited-slip axle, cruise control, and solid roof...preferably in silver over black.
Actually, forget that, I'll take a (used) 1974 T/A, with the fire-breathing Super Duty 455 under the hood!
