Re: Property for sale, sea views..
I sympathise with the people complaining. However, Newquay is and always has been a resort town, It survives on tourism . For 6 months a years it thrives and the other 6 is full of wind swept dog walkers and the hardened surfers.
I have spent many a drunken night from the age of 15 there the main street is full of pubs and bars promoting Newquays party and surf theme. Tall Trees,Berties and the Bowgie were all huge clubs in the 80s and 90's.
My grandparents had a bed and breakfast on Henver Road from about 1968 until 1981 about a 10 min walk accross the cliffs to Towan beach. My grandmother learnt to surf at the age of 50 on Fistral Beach she befriended all the surfers there.
Has it got worse.....probably but times have changed and Newquay has changed with it (unlike most of Cornwall) It used to be a family orientated seaside town with fudge and rock shops, penny arcades and ice cream parlours...those are my childhood memories of it.
People who now come to Newquay want shops that sell surf gear, slutty skirts and plenty of pubs and thats what they get. Yes Newquay has changed but its the people who holiday there who have changed it and the locals are quick to take the emmits money. Yes I do believe they have a right to complain but its going to do no good when these sorts of people are keeping the locals bills paid.

With its thatched roof, manicured lawn and floral gardens it is the epitome of the chocolate box cottage.
Only, the views outside are not that of an unspoilt countryside that goes on as far as the eye can see.
There are no winding country lanes nearby. Nor are there acres of undulating greenery.
Instead this sumptuous £3million property enjoys the most spectacular sea vistas imaginable.

I dunno. I Like the last house, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't scream brilliant seaside house to me.
I always like a Deco styled building when I i imagine my perfect seaside residence.

Re: Property for sale, sea views..
Not good enough, it only has lake views.
A luxurious boathouse with some of Britain's most spectacular views is up for sale for almost £2 million.
The rural retreat on the shoreline of Lake Windermere in the Lake District offers panoramic views, 650ft of lakeside frontage and is one of the only properties on the lake that can be lived in.
Set in tranquil countryside, the property which has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private jetty was originally built around 1870.

Throw in the rights to flog a few of the local unbooted and unhorsed every year and I'd take it!

A Victorian pier is to be sold at auction for a guide price of about £200,000.
South Parade Pier in Southsea, Portsmouth, goes under the hammer on 12 December at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
Part of the pier was recently closed following safety concerns.
A spokesman for the National Piers Society said: "It is a listed structure and needs someone who can restore it to its former glory".
He added that it needed to appeal to "21st Century consumers".
"Given its existing facilities the possibilities are enormous," he said.
The pier, owned by Fred Nash and Dawn Randall, has gone into administration twice in the past 18 months.
Its guide price is between £190,000 and £210,000 but it is estimated restoration work could cost £2m.
South Parade Pier was completed in 1879 and opened by Prince Edward, later King Edward VII.
It includes the Gaiety Suite with a capacity of 750 and a smaller bar with a capacity of 400.
It has caught fire three times, once during the filming of The Who's rock opera Tommy.
In one scene featuring Oliver Reed, the smoke is visible.
Rob Marchant from auctioneer Clive Emson, said: "The pier offers huge scope, but needs investment and might be snapped up for the price of a three-bedroom semi.
"It also comes with a long and interesting history and it remains a Victorian pier that still has a long life ahead of it despite its age.
"I'm sure there is an investor out there who could revive the fortunes of this grand old structure."

don't really like motor boats breaking up the serenity, but I would deal with it if there are bass in the lake
Re: Property for sale, sea views..
Nope, no freshwater bass in UK waters.
Species regularly caught in Windermere include the wonderful wild brown trout, using most methods. Average brown trout are in the region of 2lb, although Ferox trout over 10lbs are caught each year. The pike fishing is superb with specimens over 30lbs frequently caught, and the lake also has an excellent head of perch and roach. Windermere is famous for its fabulous arctic char. These are caught using trolling spinners and traditional boats and rigs fish daily throughout the season.

Trout are good too.

Re: Property for sale, sea views..
A brief history of catfish and catfish fishing in the UK.
The European Catfish (Wels) is one of the largest fish in European waters reaching a length of over 2 metres and weights of 100kg plus.
The wels catfish is originally from the eastern countries in Europe and originate no further west than Germany and were introduced into the UK more than one hundred years ago by the Duke of Bedford who stocked them into his lakes at Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire.
In the UK the growth rates of the Wels catfish be anything up to 3-4lbs per year - the cats at Celtic Lakes are already packing on the pounds so why not come and see for yourself.

A beach hut measuring just 23ft by 6ft is set to become the most expensive in Britain after going on sale for £245,000.

A tiny island off the north west coast of Scotland is being put up for sale with a guide price of £2.5m.
The 800-acre (323.7ha) Tanera Mor is the largest and only inhabited island in the Summer Isles in Wester Ross.
Current owners, the Wilder family, bought the island in 1996 after selling their dairy farm in Wiltshire.
Talks about a possible buyout by the local community living on the mainland nearby had taken place. However, it is now being offered on the open market.
The island is currently run by Mr Wilder's daughter Lizzie and her husband Richard Williams.
