How Hot Is It?
I thought I posted this earlier but it seems to have disappeared.

Re: How Hot Is It?
Speaking of weird weather...
Around 6 yesterday evening, we started to hear thunder in the background..
(That isn't all that unusual; we get rolling thunder and occasional clouds being lit up by lightning in the distance around here from time to time...not typical but not unheard of...)
But by 6:30, we had a full-on east coast style thunderstorm going on overhead...complete with repeated cloud-to-cloud and cloud -to-ground lightning bolts...
And a tropical-type big rain drops deluge along with it...
In the nearly 30 years I have lived out here, I've only seen this one other time...(about 20 years ago, when a tropical storm had somehow managed to get north enough to break up off the 'Frisco coast)
The Lad was fascinated by what was going on, (he'd never seen anything like this) so we grabbed a couple of chairs and sat out on the upstairs terrace and watched the light show together, while I reassured him that despite all the scary looking lightning and the thunder there was nothing to be afraid of, and that where I grew up, this happens all the time in the summer...
I don't think I've seen him as envious about my experiences growing up since I told him about "snow days"...

Lightning and thunderstorms hit across the Bay Area on Monday afternoon and into the evening, giving residents a late-summer weather spectacle rarely seen in the region.
Forecasters observed at least 1,000 lightning strikes in the Bay Area, with isolated thunderstorms soaking parts of the region amid 90-degree heat.

Re: How Hot Is It?
You're not supposed to sit outside in a lighting storm! I hope the chairs were plastic and the lighting was several miles away - you know you have a far greater likelihood of getting hit by lightning than of hearing the truth from the current administration.
PS - I love those storms, we have had several this spring & summer and I have relished each and every one - sometimes I run out and sit in my car so I can experience the buckets of rain falling all around me and the awesomeness of the lighting striking right in my neighborhood followed by fantastic cracks of thunder. I loved these storms as a kid, but after a decade of living in the arid West, I appreciate them more than ever before. I will never again complain about rain.

Well, we were kind of inside and outside...You're not supposed to sit outside in a lighting storm!
We have a small french-door terrace off the master bedroom that has an overhang that we were sitting out on...(when it really started to get intense, we moved back into the bedroom)

You have a far greater likelihood of getting hit by lightning on a golf course after sinking a hole-in-one, with a 300 million dollar winning Lotto ticket in your pocket , than of hearing the truth from the current administration...you know you have a far greater likelihood of getting hit by lightning than of hearing the truth from the current administration.

I didn't appreciate the last one I saw.
Probably because I was attempting to get through an unfamiliar city, at rush hour, on a motorcycle. That rather sucked rocks.

It looks like we will have a better stretch of warm, sunny weather this week and next than we have had all summer.
