Golf course would be my bet, or a distillery.

A cliff-top house in Torquay, which has been deemed officially uninhabitable, has sold at an auction for £33,500.

Image

Torr Cottage had a starting price of £25,000 - even though it would normally sell for around £400,000.

The property which was described as being in immaculate condition, sits on land which is prone to landslips.

Nearby Ridgemont House featured in national newspapers and on television because part of it has collapsed because of a landslip.

Torr Cottage is yards from the edge of Oddicombe Cliffs in Torquay.

Torquay Council's prohibition order means it will not allow occupation until a structural work is carried out to make it safe.

Chris Hodgkinson of estate agents House Buyer Bureau, said: "We are very pleased with how the auction went.

"We have yet to find out who has bought Tor Cottage, but the property does have potential for the right investor.

"There is clearly a degree of risk involved, but Tor Cottage and the land still may have potential as an investment opportunity."

The home's previous owner, who declined to comment, had been renting it out.

Just on this theme, one of the places me and Hen have booked for our next UK holiday (Nov 3rd to Dec 15,) is a lighthouse keepers cottage.

This gorgeous little cottage sits in a row of four similar properties. Built as former homes for the lighthouse keepers the aptly named Lighthouse Cottage is a beautifully appointed cottage with stunning sea views from almost every window. The Cottage is a short drive or thirty minute walk down to Sennen's cove and its sandy beach with all of the local amenities including The Old Success pub, beach restaurants and shops, be warned its a little bit steep on your return!
The views down to the Longships reef lighthouse are just out of this world.
Longships Lighthouse is a navigation aid about 1.25 mi (2.01 km) off the coast of Lands End in Cornwall, England, UK. It stands on Carn Bras, the highest of the Longships islets which rises 39 feet (12 m) above high water level. The lighthouse has been unmanned since 1988.

History
The original tower was built in 1795 to the design of Trinity House architect Samuel Wyatt. The lantern was 79 feet (24 m) above sea level but very high seas obscured its light.

In 1869 Trinity House began constructing a replacement. The building of the present granite tower used much of the equipment that had previously been used in the construction of the Wolf Rock Lighthouse. The tower was first lit in December 1873 having cost £43,870 to build Even after these improvements, the S.S. Bluejacket was wrecked on rocks near the lighthouse on a clear night in 1898, nearly demolishing the lighthouse in the process.

Operation
The current lantern, which has a range of 11 nautical miles (20 km; 13 mi), emits one long five-second flash every ten seconds. Seaward flashes are white but they become red - due to tinted sectors - for any vessel straying too close to either Cape Cornwall to the north or Gwennap Head to the south-southeast.

Image

That lantern is 35 metres (114 foot) high, must have been a hell of a swell running that day

My two old local pubs are within staggering distance too, "The Old Success" and "The First and Last", I may be tempted to return visit.

Hen's going to have to drug me to get me out of that place

This cozy little bungalow appears to be surrounded on both sides by scenic overlooks, benches, streetlights, and parking lots butting right up against it.  So much for a quiet, secluded pied-à-terre in which one can spend the rest of their days in private, peaceful retirement.

And at least to my inexperienced eye, that roof looks likes it's going to need some work as well.

But it's right handy for the Alf Wallis grave site...
Alfred Wallis (18 August 1855 – 29 August 1942) was a Cornish fisherman and artist.

Tut tut, eye of the beholder, eye of the beholder. And these are rustic UK beholders so allowance must be given. These are the sort of lowbrow racists who voted for Brexit.

Yep, I am definitely right, double-cock is sauced up again...

Let's have a look at what someone who knows more than double-cock* thinks of Wallis's art...
His paintings are an excellent example of naïve art; perspective is ignored and an object's scale is often based on its relative importance in the scene, giving many of his paintings a map-like quality.

*Ok, so I'm not narrowing the field down at all there....
