Here is what happened today;
I took advantage of Meade's great discovery and decided to go to
Cost Plus to pick up some Vegemite.
But I decided to go to the
Cost Plus at Hillsdale (in San Mateo) Shopping Center because I hate driving to downtown in Redwood City. They charge for parking and there aren't a lot of places to park other than one garage that charges by the hour.
They "revitalized" downtown a few years ago, which means the city decided to charge everyone for parking every day of the week and they now have a lot of yuppie coffee shops, bagel sellers and sandwich places, and of course, outdoor tables with umbrellas where cell phoney's sit in groups and don't talk to each other because they are using their cell phones.
Anyway, on my trip to Hillsdale I decided to stop at
Mollie Stones market to pick up a 'California Roll' which is a "Sushi" preparation that is made of real crab meat & avocado, and I like the one made with brown rice.
So, while I was there I decided to look around. I discovered an aisle that was labeled 'Asian' & 'Hispanic' foods - and guess what? - there was a section in the aisle where I found MARMITE AND VEGEMITE!!!!
I grabbed the Vegemite and quickly bought it. I already have some Marmite so I didn't need more of that.
I'm not quite sure why, but I think I like the Vegemite more than the Marmite, although I know I will continue to add Marmite to bread & muffins once in a while.
Thanks very much to Gob, The Hen and Meade for helping me become an addict to a strange and tasty treat.
The odd thing about this all is that I now find myself speaking with (what I perceive to be) an Aussie or English accent quite often nowadays.
My friends think I'm a bit looney. But that's nothing new....
