It was a 1972 Super Beetle. It was a "custom package" so it was a little higher priced than the other Super Beetles. It looked exactly like the one in the picture I posted and was the same color. I still have the receipt.
The price was $2239.00.
I drove it until 2006 and then donated it to St Vincent de Paul.

All you need is a Suzuki 650 sports, an unfriendly taxi driver , and a good solicitor, and you could have one mate!

Jesus!! The Canon 5D arrived yesterday, serious bit of kit!!
The menu, which I thought wouldn't be different to my old 450D, is like the launch details for the space shuttle. Steep learning curve ahead.

Deep joy, only one of my lenses works with it, my Tamron 300mm.
I have a 17-40 mm on order, but will need to buy a decent "walk about" lens.
(Plus a battery grip, CF card, camera bag, tripod, remote control, filters, external flash..........)

Not even your current tripod works?
I'm still looking for the right camera bag. Maybe its a female thing, I've been through three in the year I'd had my camera and still don't have the one that works right for me. Such a PITA!
eta: I took some storm pics on Sunday morning, and now that I have internet back at home, will get them into the computer and share some of them. I'm looking forward to seeing how they turned out!

I found this Marlboro cooler bag (insulated to carry cold beverages and ice) I got for trading in miles from the packs I smoked made the best camera bag I ever had (and I had 3 or 4 camera bags that either broke or just didn't stoer things the way I wanted).
Think outside the box and look at any and all utility bags. I do suggest checking out "tool" bags at Lowes, Sears and or Home Depot. Many pockets, a little sturdier with zippers and pockets and shoulder straps.
Just a suggestion.
I'll definitely look at utility or tool bags. I need something I can wear slung cross-body (to keep my hands free for shooting), that has enough room for my camera, a few lenses and other accessories, wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses. And maybe a folder or a notebook or something in the back. That's also well-padded, stylish (or at least decent/interesting looking) and not too big, too heavy or too expensive.

Guin
Also try Northern Tool and type in Tool bags and see if they have anything that might work. I have found all their stuff to be top quality, but a little expensive. Also try Harbor Freight. A lttle cheaper but not as good quality, but for a camera carrying case you might not need as heavy duty.
Guin, I've never owned a tripod, I've always hand held. But, as hiking and photography will now be my main hobby*, I've decided to get serious about it.
*Until I get a motorbike, get back into paragliding, restart rock-climbing, all depends on a change in my shift patterns.

The CRTC imposed in 28 mandatory markets, a digital transition deadline for full power transmitters of August 31, 2011, with the exception of some CBC transmitters. Two weeks before the deadline, the CBC transmitters were given a temporary one year extension to remain in analog. No digital transition deadline has been set for low power analog transmitters and analog transmitters outside of the 28 mandatory markets.
So there!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
Sorry matey, but us big boys were actually discussing the digital switch-off in our respective countries. I think we've all had access to digital TV for many years now...
