Plans for a microbrewery in a disused toilet block in St Ives are due to be discussed by Cornwall Council on Monday.
If accepted the application would see the Trenwith Burrows public conveniences block transformed and extended to create a microbrewery, a new café and a gift shop.
The plans also include replacing the roof with a flat surface to create a roof terrace for the café.
Marco Amura, owner of St Ives Brewery, is behind the plans.
He said as well as creating jobs it will bring back a public convenience to the site which has been closed.
“The development of a small microbrewery on the Trenwith site will enable a growing business to reach a larger audience and create 8 full time jobs. In addition to the creation of much needed jobs in the town, St Ives Brewery will be funding the opening of the site’s now closed public toilets. A much needed service for tourism in St Ives.”
Since the application was submitted to the council in January, several people have raised concerns about the development, worried that it will reduce trade from other businesses in the area.
