Brits spend an average of £142 shopping online while drunk, new figures show, with lobster pots and diving equipment among the bizarre items people have ordered.
Nearly one-in-five consumers admitted they have bought items via the internet while intoxicated, with a quarter spending between £100 and £200, and almost one-in-20 splashing out more than £500 on their credit or debit cards.
Most drunken sprees (53pc) take place on Amazon, with clothes being the most popular purchase, according to a survey of 2,000 people by price comparison website Confused.com. However, 18pc have booked a holiday after a drinking session and 6pc have bought a new television or phone.
While 22pc used their phone, tablet or PC to buy more mundane items such as DVDs and CDs, a few Brits made some bizarre shopping decisions. One person bought 10 lobster pots while drunk, while others snapped up a pie maker from a shopping channel, diving equipment, a folding ladder and a washing machine.
However, Confused.com warned that, with a Bank Holiday on August 25, people could celebrate the extra day off by going to the pub, with subsequent drunken purchases leading to financial issues in the future.
