PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -- Rutgers is apologizing to Penn State for offensive signs and shirts referencing the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that some Rutgers fans displayed during a weekend football game. Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann apologized in a statement Monday for the "classless display" that she said does not represent the New Jersey school's views or its fan base.
Several photos posted on an official Rutgers football Facebook page showed fans wearing T-shirts that read "Beat Ped State." Hermann says the photos were removed. There also was a sign that showed what appeared to be stick figures of a man and boy engaged in a sex act, with "Penn State" emblazoned across the top.
Sandusky, a former longtime assistant football coach at Penn State, was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse.

In a non-related story, Urban Outfitters has apologized for this:
They claim it's just a fantastic coincidence that the red colour er.... coagulated during the manufacturing process.
CSNY placed an order.
Living here in Kent and having been part of the anti-gym protests back in the 70s, this kind of thing remains highly sensitive locally. I suppose Penn Staters feel the same way

What is a Paternoty suit? Does it mean
not your father's suit?

I take exception to that. As a Rutgers alum, I am proud to say that "classless displays" are a cherished tradition and pretty much par for the course.

As a fellow alum, I completely agree. My guess is this could be part of a fraternity initiation, but that there are plenty of others who would be glad to do it just for fun.
Ad tasteless displays are par for the course at college football games (even without the Stanford band); I recall going to a Penn State game (at Penn State) a number of years ago when Paterno was pretty ill and spent much of his time in the booth rather than on the field; but when he came on, fans of the other team pelted him with Depends diapers.
