No sorry - a dozen or so chaps chasing an invisible mythical object (puck) on a slippery surface and banging into each other? Not sport at all. Now the bit where someone (is it the ref?) drops a real puck in the net and everyone pretends somebody hit it there with a stick - that's pretty sporty.

Dancing bears on ice. They don't even look like athletes.

Less athletic? Hardly. It's a game that requires an incredible amount of skill and conditioning. And like baseball, you either have it, or you don't.

Like Syphilis, you either have it or you don't.

Hockey's an ok sport, though not my favorite..

It can be difficult to watch on television, because the game is so fast paced that the TV cameras frequently can't keep up with the action...

Going to a hockey game can be a pretty fun experience (I've been to both Capitols and Sharks games) hockey fans are a very demonstrative and high energy bunch...

I agree with you LJ. Too fast for TV, great in person.
And the Islanders wippied up on the Rangers this weekend (or was it yesterday).

I lwas at the game when the Islanders won thier first Stanley Cup. Ticket prices are too high now.

And I think hockey players are some of the most "in shape" athletes of all sports. Stamina, agility, strength, coordinations, they have to have it all. And they do it all while skating on ice.

I totally agree! And sometimes, while skating backwards on ice!

I enjoy watching hockey on TV, but I agree that if you look away for just a moment or two, you can miss a goal - and that sucks.

Makes me wonder why they have not been able to use the new high-def tvs and micro cameras to make it more interesting. Gosh, if they can make NASCAR a mainstream sport with the new technology, you'd think a really dynamic and athletic sport like hockey could be made to work. But it has become more of a fringe sport than ever in the U.S.

Maybe they could use mini drones to film the action?

Or better yet, a puck cam - watch the game from the perspective of the invisible!

Y'all are blind as bats if you can't follow the puck on camera!!! I started watching games on a black and white TV set, and I could follow on that too! Hockey is all action, not like Baseball or Football. Basketball comes close, that sport should schedule their season at a different time so I could follow both. Summer would be good, there are no good sports on in the summertime!

I can follow hockey on TV!! I have since I adopted it as my sport of preference at age 14.

I was just humoring the oldsters with bad eyesight.
