is there a chemist in the house?

hey guys and gals. nice to be back. I have some body chemistry questions related to opiate withdrawal. if there is a doctor or chemist(rube?) in the house I d appreciate a conversation.

I think you need an internal medicine specialist. I've had opiate withdrawal after taking drugs for a back injury and then surgery though. Its unpleasant.
But I would still take the drugs for the pain even knowing that was going to happen after.

thanks rube. I ve been in pain management program for four years, or I was. too many side effects and the dependence was no longer acceptable to me. just pot for me now, and x-ray steroid injections.
my question is about acetaldehyde

Wes, what Rube said. I've found that most people who try to play doctor on themselves, shouldn't.

I agree completely and am trying. unfortunately it s not always easy to find a first world educated, English speaking, competent and caring doctor if you are poor. the nursing staffs are excellent locally and often seem to guide the doctors.
I just want to understand my body and the effects and implications and pathology of acetaldehyde in methadone withdrawal

Acetaldehyde is a reactive species, I think it is a product of alcohol metabolism esp when large amounts are consumed I don't know of any connection to opiates.

yes. liver related I believe. apparently effected by methadone use and withdrawal as well as alchohol withdrawal. my body appears to be exuding large amounts. curious as to whether these toxins have accumulated over past years or are being now produced. been reading some papers on the subject but haven t quite answered my questions and concerns.
thanks, wes

In my opinion species which are that reactive cannot build up and persist over time but the damage they do can.
You weren't nice? I'd forgotten.

Wow, what an absolutely spectacular idea to ask for medical advice on a forum such as this which affords no authentication of credentials and might just be a covey of yak herders* claiming to be something else.
Medical advice, as with anything: You get what you pay for.
* Perhaps Meade can give the proper collective noun for yak herders.

So not a
completely bad idea then?

So, what @W is saying is that she is a yak herder...?

Perhaps you know of some very sage yak herders.

I was actually hoping you would weigh in tpk. i know, from a previous discussion of refrigerants, that rube has some chemistry background. he would probably enjoy calculating moles of gas.

. and you, i thought, may have some knowledge, as you are probably good at your job. maybe gob as well, though i m not sure what he does.
if my assumptions are wrong, i lose nothing. i know bullcrap when i hear it and am free to disregard it. the scientific papers i read, though they were beyond my expertise, could have used a writer s touch to present a coherent picture.

on a related note some great nurses, and i suppose doctors too, have just saved my mother. she collapsed Monday and has been on a ventilator and mostly unconscious until last night, and today she came off the ventilator and sat up and talked with us for a half hour.
i am a happy guy right now.
i guess i needed someone to talk to, so i rang you guys up. as much as i hate to admit it, scooter was right, there isn t a whole lot of stimulating discussion in town.
now i have time to find that good doctor i need. i m getting better not worse at least, so that s good

Yaks like to graze. I herd them to the grazing spots.

yaks are the wildest of the tame cattle. they don t like to be herded. all they need is a big scary beautiful dog to protect them
