Because it takes a large number of people to keep the Fab running we just shut down over X-mas. It also takes 1-2 days to power up all the equipmrnt and get the temperature, humidity and particle counts in spec, (Its a class 1 cleanroom).
I only took 1 vacation day, the 23rd. I might take the 22nd as well because very few support staff will be available to coat wafers and do the metrology anyway.

Okay, I'm going to restrain myself...
In the spirit of The Season...
Congratulations on all those wonderful days off rube, I'm sure you deserved them...
(Santa better put me on the "Nice" list for that one big time...I'm expecting to finally get that pony I've been waiting for since 1969...)

Doing OK here. I don't like too much OT or holiday pay because the old Uncle Sam takes a huge bite out of it.

Only an incremental bite, and it's still more dollars in your pocket at the end of the day.
I'm off the 23rd-28th, working 12/29-30, then off again until the 5th. Of course I'm an exempt employee, on salary, so I get paid the same amount every other week no matter how much or how little I work.

My boss is of course a monster and there are frequently weeks and even months that I don't get paid at all. Nevertheless, I am leaving the office before noon on Christmas Eve and won't be back until Jan. 2, during which time we will be spending 6 days in Our Nation's Capital, seeing the sights.

I have the same sort of boss Sue has, and many weeks I don't get paid so the bills can be paid on time. I'll probably be off the 24th-26th, but then back at work , where I'll get paid or not paid the same way.

We're shorthanded at work (we have 13 routes and 11 drivers), so I'm working...carrying over 4 vacation days to next year...probably will use them for Totalcon in February.
I want to save the rest of my vacation time (3 weeks) for when I can ride!

Remember to keep an eye out for left over sand in the spring.
In the fall it's leaves, in teh spring it's sand, in all seasons it's people in cars.
