Pope Promotes "Excessive Affluence"

I'm surprised nobody else here has posted this yet.
Feel Free to Breastfeed Here, Pope Tells Mothers in Sistine Chapel
VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis baptized 33 infants in the Sistine Chapel on Sunday and told the mothers to feel free to breastfeed them if they cried or were hungry. "You mothers give your children milk and even now, if they cry because they are hungry, breastfeed them, don't worry," he said, departing from his prepared text. The written text of his homily had the phrase "give them milk," but he changed it to use the Italian term "allattateli", which means "breastfeed them," and added that they should not hesitate.
:ok I'm liking this Pope more and more...

The 'excessive affluence' was a reference to having the free time time avail. to hector and give lectures to business people, not to breastfeeding.

Ah, that's right it was actually an expression of rube's completely erroneous understanding of the meaning of the word "affluence" as meaning "free time".

An erroneous understanding which he apparently continues to hold despite the numerous dictionary definitions and thesaurus links that were provided at the time of the original discussion (as well as numerous examples of types of people with plenty of "free time" who were anything but "affluent") conclusively proving him wrong.

It remains obviously true that greater free Time is a characteristic of greater affluence.

Arguing otherwise is as bootless as claiming that WW2 today is a U.S.-centric website.

It remains obviously true that greater free Time is a characteristic of greater affluence.
It's also a characteristic of being unemployed, and of course many affluent people have very little free time.

And it's also not what you said; here's what you actually said:
The defining characteristic of affluence is free time.
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6687&p=82757&hilit= ... ime#p82757

And you said it over and over, (apparently it's one of those lamprey ideas of yours that can't be dislodged no matter how overwhelming the evidence to the contrary)
Arguing otherwise is as bootless as claiming that WW2 today is a U.S.-centric website.
A claim never made by anyone. Nobody, not once, not a single time, ever. No one here ever said anything remotely like that about that website.

As I have done here to prove false your claim about what you had said regarding affluence and free time, I invite you to prove me wrong by posting a quote and a link to wherever anyone on this board made such a claim.

You'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath...

Congratulations rube; you managed to completely mischaracterize what you yourself had said and what others said in just two sentences.

let's not forget;
More than 200 breastfeeding mothers descended on a cafe in support of one of their own who claimed she was verbally abused by a waitress for suckling her baby in public.
Breastfeeding UK mothers are neither an homogenous group, nor does that group tend to have a great amount of free time. Ask anyone who has had a baby...

I only mentioned it because Econoline appears to care about the truth and would not want to use an expression incorrectly. Gob and LJ are lying shits, as they keep proving over and over again.

If by quoting you I become "a lying shit", then I encourage people consider the source material.

Otherwise, are you saying that there is untruth in this statement?

So when are you planning to come across with the quote and link backing up the claim that this was said rube:
Arguing otherwise is as bootless as claiming that WW2 today is a U.S.-centric website.
As a great mediocre man once said:

Waiting...
waiting...
waiting...

I have to say rube, it really takes a rare sort of chutzpah to call others "lying shits" just a couple of posts after you yourself were proven to be , well, a lying shit...

Oh, come on, rube, you know I understood your point and defended you at the time, but...

Like it or not, the association of breastfeeding with "excessive affluence" has become a running gag here at Plan B, just like Gob's, er, spelling impairment...or rock-climbing with babies...or Meade's love of a certain almost-dead Canadian songwriter...or Jim's love of a certain completely-dead GOP demigod...or a few other embarrassing but memorable in-jokes.

You might as well embrace the meme and run with it, or at least learn to live with it. :shrug
