Feb 2 found Boston and surrounds buried in another snowstorm that took our weekly snow total to somewhere between 30-50 inches depending on where in the metro area you are. And if that's not nearly enough snow, we are about to experience an 85-hour snow event - where it's going to snow off and on from this afternoon, until Tuesday morning, adding another 12-18 inches to our prize total. There is no melting either - temps the last two days in the single (F) digits.

Feb 2 is also the day quarterly property taxes were due in many towns.

Tax day always brings out the anti-tax complainers on the local FB pages. What I found ironic though, was the peeps complaining about having to pay property tax ("you never really own your home so long as you have to pay property taxes") were also the ones bitching and moaning about the ongoing snow removal, and bragging about (or recommending) calling Town Hall or DPW every hour to demand more and better services, to demand their street get taken care of first, to complain about the sidewalks in their neighborhood, etc.

Where oh where do they think the funding for all those plows and plow drivers and dump trucks and front end loaders (plowing isn't enough, the snow has to be scooped up and removed to a "snow field" because there is no room, and piles are too tall to see around) is coming from? :loon :loon

Yes exactly. What we've had is the UP equivalent of 120+ inches in a week.

The magical realm where all government services come from in RightWingnut-land. Just cut taxes some more and << Voila! >> more revenue and better service magically appears!

Good luck and stay safe with todays storm Guin. We're getting the ever lovely "wintery mix". Rain, sleet, hail, snow. Should be a great commute home. I made it in to work before it got bad out.
Went snowmobiling this past weekend (first time in 3 years). Nice soft snow, good trails. Only got up to 70mph across the lake as the snow hasn't been packed down yet. Broke the back trail down to the Delaware river and road the side of the railroad tracks from Narrowsburg NY to the Lackawaxen river. Nice riding.
Going up again this weekend. The snowmobile club is having a pocker run on saturday. Wooo hoooo
