He made it look easy....
Yes, but not as easy as Secretariat...

If the race had gone on much longer, he'd have lapped the field:

Of course not being as great a horse as Secretariat, doesn't mean you can't be a very great horse indeed...

Good Lord rube, that's a blast from the past...(and a strange addition to this thread... :? )

You've been keeping up with Ms. Lois? How is that lefty, acid tongued Texan lass doing?

Please let her know I'd be happy to hear from her any time... 8-)

Of course it's kind of bizarre to congratulate a horse...

Like congratulating Mr. Ed,Image

Or Hannah and Her Aussie Horse...

American Pharoah is like a big over grown dog; he has no idea that he won The Triple Crown...(Or that his name's misspelled, or even what his name is...or what The Triple Crown is, for that matter...)

All he knows is that he made his friends happy by running as fast as he could, and now he's getting a nice brush down and maybe an apple and a sugar cube...

oh come on jim, he knows that he won, and that he is a bad ass horse, and he knows his name, but he is probably wondering where the wolves are....

I'm not in touch with her, but she was the one with the most interest in and greatest knowledge of horses back at CD. I think she had some history riding dressage or hunter-jumpers or summat like that.

I don't think there is much of a chance she missed the race if she had any way to see it. I'd be happy to hear from her.

It is a proper name and can be spelled any way they like.

And once again, as appalling as it is, I find myself in agreement with The Right Honourable Gentleman From Santa Cruz... :P

That being said it was apparently a clerical error made by someone involved in the registration of the horse's name and not intentional on the owners part so I'm also free to be irritated that the world is full of idiots who can't spell and can't be bothered to use a dictionary. So there! :nana

OFFS - the manager of the gluepot said it was not spelled correctly.

http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/5/2 ... ng-pharaoh
Though American Pharoah racing manager Justin Zayat initially blamed the error on The Jockey Club, it turns out it started with a misspelled (winning) entry into the Zayats' annual naming contest:

"The name request for the 2012 colt American Pharoah was submitted electronically on January 25, 2014, through The Jockey Club's interactive registration site," Gagliano said. "Since the name met all of the criteria for naming and was available, it was granted exactly as it was spelled on the digital name application. We wish Zayat Stables and American Pharoah continued success."

Zayat later responded in support of The Jockey Club's statement, saying that, "After I looked into our records I saw how it was submitted."

Basically, "pharaoh" is such a tricky word to spell that multiple people seeing it in isolation and with money invested in its usage can overlook a transposition of those last two vowels. Anyway, horses can't spell, so who cares.

Oh come on...

This is a horse who was probably worth a couple of million dollars when he was born, and now he's probably worth nearly a 100 million dollars...

And you think his name was a "clerical error"... :?: :shrug

Can't you read? :shrug

See above. Yes, once a clerical error is established in such paperwork it's more trouble to fix it than to keep it. Seems the owner's stables acknowledges this. Do you know something he doesn't?

Eye problems LJ (ETA and BSG)? Surely you can't both have me on ignore - see the big postie thing up there :nana

The stables blamed it on a clerical error at the Jockey Club but now agree that they submitted it with the incorrect spelling. It was not a clerical error but a classic example of ignorant spelling.

Maybe (ETA one of) you was were the winner in the "Name our Next Horse" contest?

The woman who submitted the name into the contest submitted it correctly; the person at the stables who enters the information into the Jockey Club website entered it incorrectly - that's usually called a clerical error when a clerk makes a typo or transposition of letters from a correctly spelled source.

But your Bible may teach things differently to you.
