How many pairs of shoes do the blokes here own? I was looking in my wardrobe today, and was struck by how few I have, (OK, compared to Hen that is, not a fair comparison maybe.)

My sum total;

1 pair lightweight walking/hiking boots, worn virtually constantly.
1 pair trainers, for the gym. (Hardly used as I tend to wear the above instead.)
1 pair work shoes, (DM's due to be replaced on next UK trip.)
1 pair "good" shoes , worn for dining out/special occasions, maybe 4 x a year. (Hand-made in Italian leather.)

as well as these I have a redundant pair of motorbike boots, (redundant until I get another motorbike that is) and a pair of rock climbing boots, used at the wall, too tight and painful, but that's how they should be.

So four pairs, or six if you count the ones I don't use.

1 pair of vintage Pivetta hiking boots, early 70s. Remarkably comfortable and light.



2 pairs Italian shoes.

2 pairs of Timberland boots with hard toes (provided by work where the modern equivalent of 'steel toes' are required for lab work). One has been demoted to yard work and I need to give the other pair to goodwill.

1 pair of low-top hard toe shoes currently in use at work but near the end of their life span.

1 pair of Merrill hikers. bought online and they fit nicely.

1 pair sandals.

1 pair mocs for around the house in winter.

1 pair black dress shoes.

Misc pairs of Reeboks. 1 pair new in box. 1 pair in regular use. 1 pair demoted to yard work.

1 pair moccasins (for in the house)

just treated my self to a decent pair of shoes.

1 pair black leather rockports, suitable for church and every day wear

I pair of good steel toe work boots

I pair steel toed wellies

1 pair flip flops.

1 pair of sneakers
1 pair of "bang around" cloth shoes
1 pair of winter/snowmobile boots
1 pair of flip flops
1 pair black dress shoes.
and
1 pair of heavily calloused feet. (for going barefoot)

Yup. I figured I'd have more pairs of shoes than all the plan B "blokes" put together.

How do you get out of the house in the morning?

What is it with you chicks and your shoes...

Lady Kelly has fifty pairs of shoes...(okay maybe that's an exaggeration...we have a walk-in closet that's devoted to maybe just 30 pairs of her shoes...)

I don't get this Imelda Marcos wannnabe thing with the shoes... (I've already told her she reminds me of Imelda Marcos... )

2 pairs of Red Wing black Work Oxfords (made in USA)
1 pair of New Balance black walking shoes (assembled in USA)
1 pair of calloused bare feet ( similar to oldr's)

Imelda had thousands of pairs. 50 is a drop in the bucket.

I have work shoes, play shoes, dress shoes, athletic shoes (running, tennis, cycling), hiking boots, winter boots, rain boots, dress boots, and flip flops. Those are the general categories I can think of. Multiple colors, styles, heel heights etc within almost each category.

My husband long ago declared me the lowest maintenance person he had ever met. I keep 2 pairs of work shoes up and rotating, they're New Balance, a pair of dress shoes and a pair of boots. I am proud to say I don't own any shoes with heels. I have 2 pairs of faux Crocks for indoor wear.

Low maintenance is good. For the record, I don't think having a good number of shoes makes me high maintenance though. I like variety and it helps when you have to wear "professional dress" much of the time.

I understand the need of some decent looking footwear for your profession. Also there is more to @hub finding me low maintenance. I also own barely anything makeup wise, some eyeliner and mascara, which I rarely wear, and will not wear perfume. I buy blue jeans once or twice a year and some tops to go with them. I don't go to the mall very often at all any more. His previous women apparently wore out credit cards on these things. He assumed most women needed about 50 pairs of shoes. These things are part of his definition of how high maintenance a woman is, there is more but too personal to get into here. Your man may not think of you as high maintenance whereas mine might think you are. All that matters is what yours thinks about you though, right?

I never, never correct my wife's grammar. Besides, she died a long time ago. Not my wife.

My grammar was Italian. That's difficult to correct in English.

Actually, I don't care whether anyone thinks I'm high or low maintenance and I think I'm probably somewhere in the middle. I run from professional dress on the weekends. No makeup (but always moisturizer and sunscreen), braids or a ponytail, yoga pants, flippies. Within the bounds of professionalism when required, I wear what I like, to please me, and no one else. To please my Swede, I just un-dress
