Never, ever, have I seen anyone suggest that a southern accent makes someone unintelligent. And manners and terms of endearment have nothing to do with regions. I couldn't watch any more than that because he is buying into the very stereotypes he claims to be ranting about.
And oh, threatening me with your guns because of some perceived bias about your accent? Blow it out your ear, buster, no wonder this country is a freaking disaster. GUNS ARE NOT THE ANSWER TO EVERY PERCEIVED SLIGHT!!!!

I think this is what you're trying to get at wes...
And in many ways it's admirable...
"Because you can’t starve us out
And you cant make us run...
Cuz we're them old boys raised on shotgun...
And we say grace and we say Ma’am
And if you ain’t into that we don’t give a damn..."

Why would some country and western singer's views be important enough for "lefties" to view him?
I can just see them all sat around at the Marxist/Leninist society of Downtown Buttfuck, Idaho, meeting saying; "You know, I was a fairly committed Maoist until I heard Billy Joe Buckhide sing!"
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
Without breeding with folks from outside the county too!

It's simply a strawman used to take pot shots at "lefties" and claim they are "anti-amuriken."

Lord Jim wrote:Yeah, well I still say "y'all", and "gonna"...
And in our house, we still say Grace...(occasionally....)
"Bless us Oh Lord for These Thy Gifts That We Are About To Receive From Thy Bounty through Christ Our Lord Amen..."
(Yes, that may seem Catholic, but it works... )
We've said grace in my house all my life. Still do. So what????

We usually say grace on thanksgiving; sometimes Christmas and easter as well. And some of my best friends say y'a;;. Accents are accents, and reveal nothing about intelligence or lack thereof.
However, somehow I'd bet if it were an urban black accent being discussed (Can I axe you a question?), some of those chiming in with Mr. Prather might well argue that the perception of that accent as being used by stupid people is true.

It's not nice to call people semi-colons
