hershey s fudge- old tin can recipe

well I actually bought a candy thermometer and took the mix to exactly 234 degrees (soft ball stage)
cooling now, beating later.
hopefully I got it right this time

nevermind don t use that recipe it s not the one, there are others that say that they are the old tin can recipe. maybe I shoulda checked that before I started using the first one on the list.
maybe I ll try again later...

"old tin can recipe" just says "holiday treat" to me.

I always thought you were an old fudge packer. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

well the first fudge was too soft. I cooked it to 234F ....
...then I found another variation on the same recipe which said to take it to 238F so I did that, but took it to 242 by mistake and it was too hard.
I was only able to get it beaten a little and then scooped into a ball before it got hard on me.
so I had a big ball of hard packed fudge.
tasty, but not quite right.
I have a feeling that if I had nailed the 238F, it would have been just right.
excuse me while I bounce around like tigger on my sugar and cocao buzz......
