A PAIR of 14-year-old schoolkids have become Britain's youngest parents.
Baby-faced April Webster gave birth to son Jamie after getting pregnant when she and the child's dad Nathan Fishbourne were both just 13.
April, of Caerphilly, South Wales, said: "I'm going to be a great mum."

And think about this...
If they're real lucky, they might be grandparents when they're 28 yrs old.

Well okay, I don't think it's ideal, either.
But let's not forget that until a couple of generations ago, women (defined by reaching reproductive maturity) were becoming mothers at 14 for thousands of years. And millions on the planet still do.
Anyway, she's got the dole to live on, so she'll be fine.

My Nan was 32 when she became a grandparent for the first time and by the time she was 40 had all five grandchildren.

Well yea, but that's also when it was thought it best not to bother to give women an education because they wouldn't be worth much of anything to society.

Teen birthrate at lowest point in seven decades
Teenagers are giving birth at the lowest rates noted in seven decades of record-keeping, according to statistics from the federal government released Tuesday.
The report doesn't speculate on why the birthrate has fallen, but
two decades of public-health initiatives to curb teenage pregnancy may be paying dividends. The National Center for Health Statistics report shows that the teen birthrate fell to 39.1 births per 1,000 teenagers ages 15 to 19 in 2009. That's a 6% drop from 2008 and the lowest rate since 1940. In 1991, in contrast, the rate was 61.8 per 1,000.
Birthrates fell for groups that have had the highest rates, including Hispanics, whose rate fell 10% but still stands at 70.1 births per 1,000.
Other birth data:
The overall birthrate for all U.S. women fell for the second straight year. The decline appears to be continuing, based on data for the first half of 2010.
* About 41% of births were to unmarried mothers in 2009, up from 40.6% in 2008.
* The birthrate for women in their early 20s fell 7% and now stands at the lowest rate since 1973.
* The preterm birthrate continued its much-need improvement -- falling for the third straight year.
* The cesearean section rate reached a new high of 32.9%. It has increased every year since 1996, when the rate was 20.7%.

My parernal grandmother was a grandmother just shy of age 40...HER mother was a grandmother at 37. This was
common until fairly recently.

If my paternal grandfather had been alive when I was born, he'd have been 105. I guess that there are outliers at both ends of bell curves ....

If my paternal grandfather were alive he'd have been well over 105 considering he died at 86 when my father was only 7 :/
Peoples ideals of having children are skewed if you ask me. Some just don't think when they start having sex. We have a kid that we treat and she had her child when she was 13, got pregnant when she was 12 :/
