What, no one's watching the world's No. 1 ranked team making history? Local gal Carli Lloyd is now captain and looking good, scoring against New Zealand with a header from the far post on a cross by fellow Jersey Girl Tobin Heath. Alex Morgan put another one in early in the second half to make it 2-0.

Didn't see the France-Colombia game but from the score it looks like a fair romp for les grenouilles. We'll see how that plays out Saturday afternoon.

I think I saw that in the news paper. Didn't have my glasses on so I could be mistaken.

Yes she was oldr; she has been pretty outspoken about the problems in Rio with the Zica virus and previously suggested she might not attend. She also posted some humorous online photos and posts about her concerns. My guess is that some soccer fans were responding to that.

She did.  When you take to social media (Twitter) to diss the locals, claiming the place is a disease-ridden pesthole and stating that the only time you intend to leave your hotel room is to go to practices or competition, you're going to have to expect that this is will upset some people and need to be ready for this sort of thing.

Yes, but you have to remember that we're talking about a place where the local police (who certainly ought to know) have been greeting Olympic participants and fans arriving at the airport waving signs that say "Welcome To Hell"...

So one can be forgiven for having a negative impression of the situation there...

Despite her sometimes-questionable personal history, Hope Solo is a class act on the pitch:

As someone who has earned his seat in AA (and occupies one almost every night), I have no problem with any of this.
Others may disagree.
Having found recovery (and I work at it daily) the only tragedy (or insult) is people who don't, or won't seek and accept help. It is out there. Millions have recovered from a hopeless state of mind and body and have found peace.
But that's just me. Your results may vary.
