My sister lives there.

This type of violence is rare for Brentwood.

Two men were fatally shot in what investigators believe was an attempted home invasion in Brentwood, officials said.

Police responded to the 200 block of Birch Street in Brentwood about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday after a shooting was reported, according to the Brentwood Police Department.

A man was home alone and opened fire on the two intruders when they entered the house, said Lt. Walter O’Grodnick of the Brentwood Police Department. :ok

“We’ve determined the incident was a home invasion,” said O’Grodnick. “As a result of the suspect’s interaction with the victim resident, it forced the victim to fire at both suspects in self defense.”

The names of the two alleged intruders were being withheld until their families have been notified, O’Grodnick said.

Police believe there is no ongoing danger to the public posed by those involved in the incident.

“There’s nothing to suggest that anyone should be concerned about public safety,” he said.
Time to take out the garbage!

It was the first time in more than five years that Brentwood — a city with lower crime rates than many in East Contra Costa — has seen a slaying. The city’s most recent killing was in March 2012, and was ruled a murder-suicide involving a married couple.

We've had one home invasion and one botched restaurant robbery in the last couple weeks here, where the bad guys got shot. Unfortunately the good guys were not perfect shots, and the bad guys lived. They'll probably sue, as soon as they get out of jail.
