SNOW DAY!!!!

Post by Crackpot »

Work is closed today due to the snow storm. Ahh I feel like a kid again. Ok not really, but, since I can't sleep it will keep me from a rather hellish day at work. (did I mention that I'm now on mandatory overtime? (optional Saturdays))

Anyone else got a snow day?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

It's been sunny and temps in the 60's here.

I did see the movie with my kids, though.

No snow in NY today, freezing rain instead. I would rather have snow.
We have had almost 60" total of snow since Dec 26. We've been smacked with 12"+ each week since then.

70 inches now, as of 2/2/11 -- but Boston just hit the snow/sleet/rain line, and its turning to rain for now -- on top of 12-18 inches of snow yesterday. More snow/sleet/freezing stuff later today. Yuck. The entire state of Massachusetts is shut down.

We lucked out on that one. Got about an inch of snow yesterday and then the freezing rain started.

We had freezing rain yesterday and into last night, but now it's just rain here in South Jersey. Of course, rainwater on top of the four or five feet of snow we have piled up around here is going to saturate the ground pretty quickly; I just hope the pump we installed last winter keeps the water out of my basement this year.
GAH!

I'm glad I live in the middle (north to south) of "sandy" Long Island, excellent drainage and none of that nasty coastal flooding to worry about. If coastal flooding makes it to my house, we are in deep doo doo. :D

We are getting a lot of water not draining off the streets due to snow covering all the storm drains and plowed snow not letting the water even flow to the drains. And tonight those massive puddles will freeze up and we can go ice skating.

the problem with having a creative/design type job. In the shower this morning and again just now I've been coming up with new design concepts for the project I'm working on.

Some of my best designs (electrical engineering) have come while drink and written on a cocktail napkin.

Now if I would only remember to take that cocktail napkin with me rather than blow my nose in it, I might have a few more patents.
