Cricket batters employ something shaped like an badly carved wooden oar. Baseball batters use a more beautifully shaped bat which requires a much higher level of skill.

Cricket batters employ a motion which reminds one of an overweight housewife sweeping a stray cat out of the kitchen. Baseball batters employ a motion combining the grace of ballet with the power of chopping down an oak; poetry in motion.

And since you now claim that failure is a good thing then your original point is lost. But in reality baseball statistics simply define what good and bad are and recognizes that failure and success are not to be found in the moment, but over a period of time. Seasonal and career statistics define good and bad, success and failure. It is the big picture.
