You shall go to the ball.....

Post by Gob »

A US beauty queen has become the latest victim of the economic downturn - she is homeless and faces losing her day job, months before vying to be crowned Miss USA.

Miss Colorado USA Blair Griffith and her mother have been living with a family friend since being evicted last November, after her father died and her mother suffered a heart attack.

She had only been crowned the previous month. "It was a difficult thing to go through to sit there and go, 'Where are we going to go now'?" the 23-year-old told local 9news TV station.

Her troubles started nine years ago, when her father Gary died of cancer.

"I was sad. But I said, 'I can't spend my time being so sad about it because I know my dad'," she said. "He wanted to see so much out of me."

She won Miss Colorado Teen USA in 2006 on her fourth try - but then three years ago her mother Bonita had a heart attack, leading to major surgery which tested the family's finances.

"Financially, it became difficult for us," said Griffith, a magna cum laude graduate of the Art Institute of Colorado.

Then, as well losing her home, she is losing her job at a local branch of Saks Fifth Avenue, which is closing in March.

"You do sit there and go, 'Oh gosh, not again.' But at the same time, I think it's almost like a test ... to see if you can handle it, and what will you make out of your situation."

Her next target is the national Miss USA title, to be decided at a pageant in Las Vegas on June 19.

"I could sit here and go, OK, 'I'm technically homeless, and going through so much.' But how can I complain when I have this great title, Miss Colorado USA, at the same time?"

"I have no place to complain about anything that's going on in my life. There's so many people that are going through the same exact situation. I hope to inspire people," she added.

You can see it all now can't you?

The making it to the final.
The "unexpected" triumph.
The melodramatic acceptance speech.
The appearance on Oprah.
The book deal.
The loss of interest in her
the slow decent from her 15 minutes.
The heroin addiction and rehab.
The finding Christ again.
The appearance on the Benny Hinn show.
The relapse into crank and ice...

Truly an all-American fairy tale.

'll wait for the straight to DVD movie thanks..

Instead of prancing around looking pretty for a beauty pageant and selling pretty trinkets in Saks, maybe this young lady should have spent some time applying herself into finding a real career with oh I dunno, a monthly salary or summat?

And yes, I also expect this to have "the fairy tale, all american dream" ending.

"Can I have some cheese with that?"

OK, 'I'm technically homeless, and going through so much.' But how can I complain when I have this great title, Miss Colorado USA, at the same time?"
She's optimistic; he pessimistic.

Did I ever tell-ya, I had a cuzzin be second-place Miss New Mexico?

Beautiful, beautiful girl; they judge not just on looks, so a participants misbehaving, is less likely than say, a former Mouseketeer, or Disney Channel Star, turning into a slut.

I still don't understand your answer?

What makes you think that Gob is a pessimist?

Perhaps if you stopped responding with venom I would have more of a chance to understand your points. (Just a thought.)

It's pessimistic to assume all Miss America contestants will succumb to megalomania and addiction; my cuzz and most other misses did not.

I missed where he said ALL.

Oh that's right. He didn't. That was just YOU being disingenuous as you seem to want to be these days.

Silly me.

Give your cuzz a big kiss, eh. And let them no that the nasty man didn't mean anything when he didn't say it.
Bah!

It's sad, he would wish that on an individual at all, as well. As a jest. it rather discounts her courage and strength, in her situation. I think that was was the point of the original article; that she's an amazing person, which is proven by her rising above her circumstances.

He is a terrible man Lo.

Do yourself a favour. Put him on ignore. He has done that to you.

Your continual picking and sniping will not get him to acknowledge your presence but it will piss me off to the max with you.

You really don't want that, darling.

So either ignore him, or stop trying to get a reaction. You will get a reaction, but it certainly won't be the one you wanted.

Now all of this isn't going to help the G-Man is it? Why don't you go back and start another thread or three. If I am less pissed with you later on, I may even join in.

Understand? I DO hope so.
Bah!

The loss of interest in her <--- Up to this point the predictions make some sense and have more to do with the general public's love of bathetic emotions, their limited bandwidth and the media's eagerness to feed both.
the slow decent from her 15 minutes.
The heroin addiction and rehab. <--- But from here on you're making rather nasty suggestions about the character of this individual who has shown remarkable resilience and a creditable lack of self-absorption while engaged in a real struggle to exist.
The finding Christ again.
The appearance on the Benny Hinn show.
The relapse into crank and ice...

I think that is what loca was trying to say.

I think Gob just got caught up in the flow of ideas while he was fabulizing and didn't see it.

Ha ha ha Lo, I don't know your kind of 'pissed', granted. But I do there is little point in me posting on either the new or old CSB until I am less pissed with the posters that frequent those Boards.

If I really get the shits with you posting negatively against my husband here constantly then I will also put you on ignore, which will take a weight of my mind and leave you totally out of my life.

THAT is what I can do about it anywayZ. You going to push me that far Lo?

Do you REALLY want to do that?
Bah!

No, I post here for other reasons, it isn't always about you two.

I don't do 'ignore', because I try to get over being pissed.
