What's a hammerfor?

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

Can any of you guess what this is? Hint: it's about 69 years old.

It's one of of those strap thingies that librarians in movies use to hold their glasses around their neck. This of course is after she has taken them off and pushed her hair back so you realize how insanely beautiful she really is and worthy of the attentions of the leading man. This is the model for when she is wearing those tortoise shell frames.

What do I win?

To hold a cardigan sweater over the shoulders without having to tie the sleeves.

Clever idea but not quite there, Guin.

Further hint: it's always been mine, it's about 69 years old (perhaps a tad below) and I'm almost 70 years old

Nice turtles.

Is it something to hold your gloves or mittens around your neck when you aren't wearing them?

It goes through your sleeves and keeps you from dropping your mittens.

Another worthy guess but getting colder. Think 'neck' and the cutest little baby in the world (me)

And I've tried clipping them on my earlobe - hurts

It’s a bib holder.

Is that the original elastic from 69 years ago? If so, much impressed.

I am impressed that you had the foresight to know to save it as you would again need this useful thing at age 69.

ETA that you can use saran wrap pressed against your clothes to save them and no one need know you are wearing a bib of sorts. You're welcome.

@W for the win!

Sorry BSG, you may be correct, but this last comment is the funniest. In that dark way...

It is original but it's a blue ribbon, not elastic. Still has authentic stains

I can attest only to the fact that they make pull-ups in your size. The little blue potty would likely not stand the test of time ( nor your current weight). 👩‍🔬
