From CNN's 'Bleacher Report'.Jacksonville Jaguars director of sports performance Chris Doyle resigned Friday evening, one day after the team hired the former strength and conditioning coach at the University of Iowa.
Doyle parted ways with Iowa ahead of the 2020 season after several players reported racist abuse and a hostile environment at the hands of the longtime coach. New Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer made Doyle one of his first hires, initially defending the decision by pointing to a friendship with Doyle stretching nearly 20 years.
In a statement Friday, Meyer said Doyle came to the team with an offer to resign after becoming a distraction.
University of Iowa paid him $1.1 million to resign after the allegations there surfaced. According to the Florida Times Union
Clearly - or (probably more accurately) allegedly - the man is a turd. But what is the Director of Sports Performance at a professional (NFL) football team? It's like working at a company with a CEO and a CIO and a CFO and they hire someone whose title is Director of All the Shit that We Do. Anyway, and more importantly, is this the new American Dream? Do something revolting, get hired somewhere, and then get paid to resign. I'd be really curious to know how much the Jags paid him to go away.There were numerous allegations that Doyle belittled players. Former Iowa linebacker Terrance Pryor told ESPN this past June that black athletes had to deal with "many racist incidents" during his time there, including an incident with Doyle in which he alleges Doyle told him, "Maybe you should take up rowing or something you know? Oh wait, Black people don't like boats in water, do they?"
