RIP Dick Hoyt

I first saw Dick Hoyt and son at the Marine Corp marathon in Washington DC, when my son (then a college student in NROTC) ran in it more than 30 years ago. It begins in the street in front of the Pentagon and ends at the Marine Corp memorial in Arlington National Cemetary. The finish is uphill in the cemetery and that year it was mud. The 'less-abled' fighting the mud while screaming DON'T TOUCH ME! at the spectators left me with a memory I will never forget. Now the finish is totally paved. It took a while for my son to explain what those red spots on the front of the jersey mean. Now the event numbers usually cover that up.

Any help would have meant disqualification as a finisher. Dick Hoyt with his son, finished. For Eternity.
