Apparently the Michigan coach took exception to a timeout called by the Wisconsin coach and threw a punch at him. Wisconsin were well ahead at the time and the Michigan guy thought that this was in violation of some unwritten (??) rule of sportsmanship.
WTF? In most sporting events if you stop trying, you get nailed for tanking, especially when people bet on results and margins of victory etc. In my sporting days (mainly track and field) if someone beat me by 10 inches or 10 feet or 10 yards it just spurred me on to train more and I never thought it was unsporting of the victor.

Participants in sports = hooligans, irrespective of the sport.

Re: Basketball fracas
I almost said figure skating was an exception, because competitors tend to train together and/or be friends, and fans generally cheer on everyone to do their best. But then I remembered Tonya Harding.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: Basketball fracas
Agreed, Howard's position makes little sense. I think it has been a long, frustrating year for the Blue, and that explains it.ex-khobar Andy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 4:58 amWTF? In most sporting events if you stop trying, you get nailed for tanking,
@W's position is even more absurd.
Re: Basketball fracas
I agree as well; this is high level college sports, not 6 year old little league. I was always told that to do anything less than your best, or to just give up, was a bigger insult to your opponent than running up the score.WTF?
