Cheerleading is a sport.

Despite all I've said about it in the past.

My great-niece's team came 8th in the world championships in Orlando, Florida .

Congratulations to your great-niece and her team.

I've seen some of those cheerleading competitions on ESPN and elsewhere, and I'm still trying to figure out when 'leading a group of people in a unified chant of support' transformed into a combined Chinese gymnastics exhibition/Flying Wallendas performance?

I have to say that the big guy in the middle there at the back is not what springs to mind when someone says 'cheerleader.' Congrats to your niece.

What a great experience. Though, this begs a cheap shot -- what is there to cheer about in Wales?

That moment before crossing the border into England, that's what
