A matter or perception.

The British public hugely overestimates the size of minorities, sparking fears ‘woke’ identity politics are warping views of society.

When 1,800 people were asked by pollster YouGov how many people were transgender, for instance, they thought it was about five per cent of the population.

In reality, between 0.3 per cent and 0.7 per cent identify as a different gender from their biological sex – the gap between the estimate and the reality appearing to show how the transgender rights debate has skewed perceptions.

While most Britons are white and heterosexual, the poll found many believe the UK is made up of far more racial, religious and sexual minorities than it actually is. When the survey asked what proportion of adults was white, the median answer was 65 per cent – yet the true figure is 87 per cent.

And while official figures show that black Britons make up about three per cent of the population, those questioned estimated the proportion at 20 per cent. Britons believed about 15 per cent of the population is Muslim, against the true figure of about four per cent, and they estimated the Jewish community stood at 10 per cent when it is one-twentieth that size.

Survey participants were asked to estimate how many people earn more than £100,000. The median guess was 20 per cent. The real proportion is only three per cent.

The Common Sense Campaign said: ‘Diversity, particularly in the media, is evidently a positive and laudable aim. What these results show, however, is that they are playing into a misconception about Britain that under-represents some groups and over-represents others.

The country, it added, needs to be more accurately portrayed. ‘We risk going down the American route of seeing everything through the prism of identity,’ it said

So people who are having a freak out about the presence of transgender people in spaces/situations exclusive to one gender are actually worried about something that is insignificant.

Have they read the Daily Mail?
What these results show, however, is that they are playing into a misconception about Britain that under-represents some groups and over-represents others.
To my point, media outlets like the Daily Mail, Fox News and other right-wing frothers routinely misrepresent the size, power and social effect of minority groups to gin up outrage and fear in their readers/viewers, and right-wing politicians amplify and pander to that panic to keep their base "enraged and engaged." The massive gap in perception v. reality is more likely an indication of the polled population's perception of the "threat" posed by each group.

Reading this and listening to Morning Joe’s discussion about Battling the Big Lie as it gets into the stranglehold FOX News has on a very large percentage of the American people in terms of lack of access to objective truths and rational discussion of them. That’s the source of irrationality in the political positions of a whole lot of Americans - they are brainwashed by the cult of Murdoch/Sauron/Trump.

Have you seen this? There is a book called 'The Plot Against the King' which allegedly 'documents' (I use the word very loosely) the plot by Hillary Queenton against the rightful King Donald and how the plot was foiled by the wizard Kash. In what is surely a coincidence, the book is written by Kash Patel.

15% of the amazon reviews are one-star (Amazon's lowest possible rating) and 85% are five-star. Nothing in between. It's aimed at kids - not sure of the age range because it does not specify (or if it does I couldn't find it) but I am guessing kids in the 5 to 85 years range.

If any of you are looking for a Christmas present for me . . .
