Well, I am gonna go out today and participate in that big virtual casino and buy a powerball ticket. I think one person having that much personal wealth is obscene. But I am gonna do it anyway.
So I publicly announce that my first act of charity if I win it, will be to purchase a MGA twin-cam and give it to MGMckanic.

Re: Powerball
I was too late to get a ticket on Halloween so was glad nobody won. Got my ticket last night and disappointed my ship didn’t come in. Will try again Saturday.
If I won I would use 99% of the winnings to establish a charitable foundation and spend the rest of my life giving the money to worthy causes, without requiring any public acknowledgment.
The remaining 1% would provide me adequate riches to finance a modest lifestyle and help out those friends who have helped me in my life.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Re: Powerball
I threw two dollars at it last night, and I'll probably do it again by Saturday — assuming I have any other reason to leave the home twenty. I know the odds are astronomical and I'm probably just pissing away another two bucks, but I figure I've wasted more money than that on even more stupid things — and like they say, you can't win if you don't play.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I see it is estimated to be $1.2 billion if anyone gets all the numbers. Why don't they lower the threshold to five balls out of six (or whatever - I don't know the constraints on the numbers so I can't work out the number of permutations) and give say 1200 million dollar prizes? I'd rather take a shot at $1,000,000 with odds of XXXX:1 than at $1.2 billion with odds of 1200 times that against winning.

Because with cars costing $40 grand or more and the way the housing prices are these days, a million bucks is — well, just chump change. Especially after you figure the feds and your state are going to whittle away at least a third of it.ex-khobar Andy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 8:23 pmI see it is estimated to be $1.2 billion if anyone gets all the numbers. On the other hand, if someone wants to hand me a million smackers, PM me and I'll give you my address. Hell, PM me and give me YOUR address — I'll come and get it!!

Actually, 5 of 6 IS a $1 million prize.ex-khobar Andy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 8:23 pmI see it is estimated to be $1.2 billion if anyone gets all the numbers. Re: Powerball
Why? Because this is a for-profit activity and big jackpots suck in more money, even though the odds stay the same.
