Early to bed, early to rise..

make me, well, knackered really..
We went out last night, for a meal for the mother in law's birthday treat. (Fantastic meal at
The Ginger Rooms, in Old Parliament House, read all about it in the next website update, if you're that way inclined.)
However, as we didn't get home until 11.00 pm, and I had to be up this morning for work, (yes it's Sunday, yes I'm working, people don't stop being mad on the weekends,) I was totally bushed and went straight to bed once home. 11.00 pm was a naughty treat, staying up
THAT LATE!
Since me and Hen have been doing the early morning gym routine,* my body clock has changed from a night owl to a early riser.
Normally at least four days per week, we're up a 5.25 am, and at the gym by 5.50 am. To cope with this we're normally in bed by 10 at nigh at the latest. I must admit, I quite enjoy this. But long ago in a land far away, I was a night owl. On Fridays and Saturdays, I would party (chemically or alcohol assisted sometimes, ok, alcohol assisted most of the time,) until 3, 4 or five in the morning, then sleep it off until mid afternoon.
I think trying that these days would kill me.
So what about you? Night owl, or morning lark?
* we've been doing this for three years now, so the habit has stuck.

I have always been an early riser. I started this at the age of seven with getting up at 5.45 am for swimming practice.
I will assimilate you to all my habits. The next major one would be for you to take your crockery back to the kitchen.

No Really. I fucking HATE Mornings. I go to bed when you cabrones are getting up. Fuck off. I like Sleep. No. I LOVE sleep. No. I work 24/7 ; however? When I can? I will sleep the entire fucking weekend away. Fuck you! Putos. Cabrones.

I have never liked mornings, except when I was a really little kid.
I will be cheerful when forced to be up early, but I cannot seem to make it a habit. Nothing would please me more than to jump out of bed when my radio turns on at 6am and to get into doing exercises/yoga while listening to NPR in the morning and to have plenty of time to enjoy coffee and breakfast at home; instead most often I lay in bed listening to the morning news until the last possible moment that will allow me to be ready in time for work. This often means not having time to eat at home in the morning, so I keep morning food in the fridge at work.
I don't get it, because I feel that way even if I've gone to bed early - by 9 or 10pm - and gotten a good night's sleep. I am a lazy morning person.
How long did it take you to become a natural early riser, Gob? I would like to change this about myself. It's never too late, I suppose.

He still isn't a natural riser. If it wasn't for me turning on the bedside light and leaving the bed he wouldn't stir at all.
If I didn't have the morning riser gene, he would be going to the Gym at around 11.00 am.
(Now don't you deny it Gobster.)
So I guess, find yourself a boring person like me, who doesn't party late and gets up early, then you'll be right.

Oh, I am only doing this early morning shit at present because if I didn't go to the Gym then, I would not be going at all.
(I am usually in the Office straight from 8.20am until 6.00pm and usually working through lunch as well. By the time I get home on the bus, it is well time for me to start dinner for the Hatch. If only there were 36 hours in a day.)

As a child-free gal, I can do what I want in the evenings, but find I'm so exhausted after the day at work that I just want to chill. I also work through lunch most days and work until 6pm or a bit later. Plus, I've read and heard repeatedly that folks who do early workouts are more inclined to stick to the routine than folks who work out in the evenings. Most importantly, I know that working out at 7 or 8pm is likely going to result in an energy burst a few hours later that will make deep restful sleep for 7 or 8 hours straight difficult to achieve.
So. I just have to get my ass out of bed and get to it. Do, or don't do - there is no try. As Yoda say.

Yoda is da man .... (Or whatever it is he is).
It is sound advice, but it requires fortitude. If you can do it for two weeks in a row, you can do it for the rest of your life.

Oh, I loved night-shift, right up my alley: staying up very late, and sleeping in even later. On exercises I usually volunteered for Dog Watch - that's when the excitement happens anywayZ. Whenever possible, I revert to my natural nocturnal behavior. Mornings are only accomplished by lots of caffeine
