A CV is a Curriculum Vitae.
A curriculum vitae (CV) provides an overview of a person's experience and other qualifications. CV and resume are non synonymous in the US. The former is a far more extensive recitation of professional experience, running to several pages, and is generally utilized by academics and medical/mental health professionals. The latter is usually a 2-3 page document at most, where brevity is the norm.
