Um, how does a solar-powered watch work when it rains, or indoors? :? ;)

This was one of the Lootiest years for me in a long time, the Queen and I are getting along so great, she wanted me to share Christmas Eve with she and her girls, as they opened presents that night, so the kids could then go share Christmas day with their bio-Dad.

So, in my stocking (which she hand-made) I got Scratcher tickets, my fav candy- Reese's Peanut Butter Trees™ [dammit] and a gift card to Target™ :ok Later from the BF was perfume and a new Microfleece sweater- which I immediately donned told you it was #@$%&ing cold! ...the hot tamales were just an added delicious bonus!

Loca, if it's like mine -- a Citizen Eco-Drive -- the battery is solar powered, and it holds a charge for some time. Also, as long as you wear the watch (not keep it in a drawer or box) and it gets exposed to sunlight or artificial light, it works fine. I found that after several years, the battery would run down in mid-winter, and it would need to sit in a window during a sunny day to be fine again.

Per my request (actually, per last year's ultimatum), I got nothing.

I treated myself to a pile of discount books plus a few boxes of notecards (sending more snailmail is a New Year's resolution) from Daedalus Books. I got the dog liver treats, a new water bowl and two new orthopedic beds - one for the living room & one for the sunporch. She is getting too old for the hardwood floors.

Two gift cards from my sister; one for a local bar/grill/live music place for me and the SO, and one for a local day spa, just for me! The latest Michael Pollan book "Food Rules" (which seemed to be mostly a condensed re-write of "In Defense of Food"), and best of all, a three day road trip with my oldest and dearest friend and her sister.

I got tonsilitis, a mis-diagnosis, and the wrong antibiotic.

(and some fun stuff, too, but I lost out on a trip to Chicago for NYE because of it, and I'm still not 100% today at work. bah.)

I went to a walk-in clinic -- my our fault -- two hours of waiting, then two days of the wrong antibiotic. At least they didn't drag me back in for another visit (and the first antibiotic was cheap, the second, not so much).

Oh, And I got a copy of "The Last Sultan" a biography of Ahmet Ertegun. I love the music and respect his ear and his passion for it but he was really not someone I would like very much.

Oh, and a bar of something called "Filthy Viking Soap". It's made with real pumice, you can tell.

Did anyone get a lump of coal?

No seriously! They had these 'chocolate candy coal lumps' that came in their own drawstring sack ...had to get some for the BF :D Oh, he got a professional skier's balaclava, not because he skis, because we both hate the cold!

Not going to list what I got for Xmas, it's all being boxed and shipped back to Aus though.

For my B-day today I got a polar-tech fleece jacket, a furry hat, a new hiking sack, books and DVDs, a holiday in the UK, a rugby ball signed by The Scarlets current squad, and the promise of a pair of Doc Martens!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarlets

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doc_Martens

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sennen_Cove

Two couples came down to stay with us, one from Wales one from Ireland, which made the whole event extra special.

Happy boy me.

I also got poached eggs on toast for breakfast, a walk on Sennen beach in a gale and phone calls from around the world.

I also got to spend the day in the company of the two ladies in my life, in a cosy cottage in Sennen, in a howling gale, which was of more value than any present could possibly be.

Pressure-less tennis balls for my machine,

Clothing, mainly for tennis and golf,

An electronic picture frame (to be used in the office for the coming baby pictures),

Uggs house slippers, and a good pair of winter gloves, also Uggs,

A ring that is designed to look like a motorcycle tyre (I got one for my wife, as well).

Bought my wife a new golf putter, a pearl bracelet, the MC ring, and a good pair of winter gloves. Her BD is January 10, so I have to hold at least one good gift back. Then there's Valentine's day...

Bought my son a washing machine and WeatherTec floormats for his Mazda.
