From the New Zealand domestic HRV Twenty20 competition. This is the most incredible catch I have ever seen. Bevan Small catches the ball in the air while crossing over the boundary rope, before hitting the ground he throws the ball to Michael Mason who takes the catch.
Talking of cricket, I've got tickets for the Prime Minister's XI here in Canberra, it's on a week tomorrow!

Catch of the century? Not even close!@
As much as American Baseball bores me to tears; Google up best highlights or best catches in baseball.
Not even close. Seriously.

Nice effort though.

Something to bear in mind Tim...
Under the rules of cricket, if Small had touched the ground outside the boundary rope whilst holding the ball the catch would've been invalid, the batsman would not have been out and instead would have scored runs. It was the sharpness of his thinking as much as his athleticism which made this one so special.

Sorry, I have to disagree Timster.
That catch was far above any baseball catch, he doesn't even have a shovel glove to help him lie a baseball player does.

he doesn't even have a shovel glove to help him
You don't need one, when you use two hands to catch it, like this joker did.....
On top of that, it looks debatable whether he caught it at all or just basically batted it to the other guy before he bobbled it...
Of course, as Cricket plays go, I'm sure it counts as exciting...
So for cricket, it may be the "catch of the century"....
Hell, in fact it may be the most exciting thing that will happen in a cricket game for the next thousand years....

There are better catches in baseball every year than this pathetic little girly two-handed grab and toss.

I've seen more exciting moves at the senior center Bocce Ball tournament.
Check this video out.
Compared to that cricket ball catch, the extremely complicated moves shown in this video are similar to having ballet skills, weight lifting strength, chess strategies and other strenuous death defying sport maneuvers all rolled into one....

Why the fuss about people catching two handed? It's the best way to catch, and legal within the rules of the game.
It's like me complaining that American football players pass forwards.
Funny thing is that for all these amazing catches which are meant to exist in baseball, not one youtube link to one has yet been posted. One can only wonder why.

I would recommend that our cricket fans make sure they are seated before they watch Joe's video....
The speed and tempo of the competition is so much faster than what they are accustomed to, it might make them dizzy....

I love American baseball.
But I agree, that was a fucking brilliant catch!
I guess I'll let you drag me to a cricket match when I visit, Gob. The players are plenty hunky, too.

I'll take you to a rugby or Aussie rues match, the players in those games make cricketers look like girly men.

How about this then! David Warner, a left handed player, switches to right handed, and still slugs it for six!!!
