How long can a good thing last?
Not bad yesterday
Wigan 4 Newcastle 0 and Arsenal dropped two points
Today not so hot - Chelsea toasted QPR 6-1
Now all that's left is for Tottenham to beat Blackburn Rovers and it's a good "Freedom Day" weekend. And tomorrow is Man Utd vs Man City which should be one for the ages. Or the aged.
On the downside, Free State Cheetahs let a 21 point halftime lead slip and lost 39-36 but you know - that's rugby, not a real man's game

Goal of the week...

Re: How long can a good thing last?
Goal of the week will be any goal which gains a point or more for United tomorrow. It can go in off the ref's arse for all I care!
The Berties are getting way to uppity with their Arabian millions and need to be taken down a peg or two. I don't think it'll be a classic by any stretch of the imagination as both sides have too much to lose. City need to win but a draw will do for United. Being three points (or more) behind going into the last two games would take the wind out of the Bitters' sails.
As for Spurs, finishing outside the top four could be very costly as I believe that without Champions' League football next season they will lose Bale and Modric. That would be disastrous for them.

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

FULL-TIMEManchester City 1-0 Manchester United
"Scenes of sheer ecstasy at the Etihad. Manchester City have their Premier League destiny in their hands and deservedly so after this win. More positive than a very poor and passive Manchester United."

dales, why don't you teach him something truly useful that won't lead to childhood concussion?
Like, chess.
Like, chess.

Um, no.
He loves Baseball and his parents see no problem with it.
He wears a batting helmet (concussion injury rather remote).
Chess?
He's a VERY ACTIVE 6 year old, besides I don't know how to play chess.
He also rides dirtbikes with daddy.
Did I mention he's rather active?

I could teach him something VERY USEFUL like how to safely handle all manner of firearms and become an expert shot.
Alas, mommy and daddy do not like guns, even though mommy knows how to shoot quite well.

Re: How long can a good thing last?
The result was bad enough but it was the manner of the defeat that pissed me off more than anything. Utd didn't have a single shot on target. Ferguson has proven himself to be a poor tactician when it comes to these big games (two recent finals against Barcelona spring to mind) and sent a team out to defend and try for a scoreless draw. That is NOT the United way! Sadly, I think it's time for Fergie to step aside and let the board try to persuade Pep Guardiola to take over.Gob wrote:FULL-TIMEManchester City 1-0 Manchester United

Fergie must be about 108 by now in any case.

At least...
He's been at United for over 25 years!
Mind you, Giggs has been there nearly as long.

Ryan Giggs today admitted to suffering from homesickness, saying that even though he's happy in Manchester he does Miss Wales.

Apparently he thinks that all beauty queens are available. He made a comment that the Miss USA pageant was his favourite since you can always identify the slut by her sash - it says "Idaho"

Re: How long can a good thing last?
Sean - yeah we watched the same match. After losing to Wigan and having the 4-4 shame against Everton, I expected ManUalex to come out with something more than playing-for-a-draw-and-losing-ignominiously as their game plan. It was a crap game from both sides but Shitty outpiled them and deserved the victory. Aside from Arsenal being relegated, watching United having to live next door to the 2012 Premier League champs would be my favourite thing to look forward to next season. As a league, the English Premier is the best still - but I have to admit I'd rather watch RM/Barca games.
I am almost resigned to Spurs finishing 5th this year and out of the Champions' League running although with the England manager bogie put to bed maybe they'll come good even now. So despite the stupid TV commentator in the Chelsea/QPR game this past Saturday ("Although a Chelsea win in Munich will mean that 4th place will not qualify a London club for next year, every Englishman will be supporting Chelsea on the night"), I will join all the Arsenal and Spurs fans in wishing Chelsea a thumping great loss to Bayern.

I was cheering for City, they deserved the win. Totally outplayed United.
It was my wedding anniversary yesterday and we spent the evening with a takeaway vindaloo a bottle of pink champaign and the Manchester derby.
