Gordon Ramsay is coming to my town!

I realize that being on Kitchen Nigtmares isn't really something to brag about, but for a town of 10,000, it is kind of a big deal. He arrives in two weeks, and is staying here during the filming, rather than in a posh hotel in Boston (so its said). I will be interesting to see how much he interacts with the locals.
I'm sure there will be stories will be floating all over.

How exciting!!!
I love watching Gordon Fucking Ramsey.
He has an eye for the catering industry and usually seems to be spot on with his assessment of what will go well in an area ...... Or at least the legions of people he has working for him do.
I like to think its up to him entirely.
Have you been into the 'nightmare' yet, Guin, and will you visit it once it has been 'Ramseyed'?

I think he is a smart guy and a very good businessman and Chef. His cooking competition show annoyed the crap out of me, but I really liked that series he did identifying his vision of the best restaurant in Britain.
I have been to the "nightmare" although not recently. Here's the website:
http://www.barefootbobshull.com/menu.htm
As you can see, it's a beach food joint -- burgers, beer, bar food type -- with outdoor seating along the main drag. I thought it had a loyal customer base and wasn't doing that badly, but perhaps I'm wrong. It could be that there are more and better restaurants in town than there were 10 years ago when they started, and more good places that stay open all year long (we have a bunch of summer only places because of our location).
I'm going to have to go again before the show if I can manage it, and then definitely after. I'm really curious about what stories will come out of it, and what Gordon Ramsey thinks of our funny little town.

I can see one thing that Gordon will have em for straight away.
A five page menu of stuff. No one small town restaurant can do all those choices well.
A short menu of really well made food is always a winner for me.
Edited. Cause I can't type on my iPhone whilst doing work.

That was what I thought of instantly. He always nails them on having huge menus.
Guin, if you happen to hear when it's going to be aired, let us know. Although, truth be told, I'm more a fan of Robert Irvine's Restaurant Impossible.
Ok, ok, I'm actually more a fan of Robert Irvine's biceps. So sue me.

I will definitely let everyone know when it is aired. I just sent a request to get one of the tables while filming -- who knows, maybe I'll get to meet the man himself!
(and yes, that menu is mind-boggling, way way to busy)

I assume he'll be getting a parade and police protection....

Guin would you mind if I edited the WASS questionnaire post it's buggering up the thread format.
Or if you want to do it yourself that would be cool.

Yes please Daisy -- I have no idea what to do and it looks fine from here.
LJ, if only our cops were as cute and cuddly. Our Chief is currently defending a sexual harassment and whistleblower case that gets uglier by the day --- and based on my interactions and stories from others, I'm inclined to believe there is some truth to the matter.

Never heard of this guy.

Guess you don't watch BBC America oldr...
Let me put it this way...
Gordon Ramsay is a chef with a demeanor that makes the Gareth Blackstock character in the Britcom
Chef! look like Mother Teresa.....
(In fact I've wondered if Ramsay hadn't based his schtick on that character...or perhaps the other way around...)

Other way round. Ramsay was already well known here then as was Marco Pierre White who Gordon famously used to work for until they had a well publicised falling out.

That show was hysterical...
I wish one of the PBS stations around here would run it again....

We've got the complete set of the British version of it on DVD, so I must say I am envious of Guin having a chance to see it in real life!
Has anyone noticed the difference between the US and Brit versions? In the Brit ones it's more about the food and the business, in the American it's more about the personalities.

Are you saying americans lives need to be more centered around food?

Or one might say that the typical level of food quality in UK restaurants is so much in need of improvement that there is no time to devote to anyything else in the span of an episode.

I watched part of one of his shows once but turned it off. I don't think his vulgarity is amusing or particularly clever. If I want to spend time with nasty people I hang out here
