Ok, American friends, do any of you bake such things? Would you care to post your recipe.
Hen's boss is moving on, he's a Chinese American chap, these are, apparently, his favourite treat. Hen being queen of the baking wants to knock some out for him.
Recipes please!

A Marranito, or Mexican Wedding Cookie? The two pigs often get confused.
Probably this.

What?
I thanked her, and showed that we had been given similar recipes so we were on the same page as her.

I am going to be making a combination of Lo's recipe (for the spices used) and the third link provided by David's mother.
I will be using whole Star Anise, Vanilla Pods and Cinnimon Sticks in the syrup I am making.
Thank you Lo.
Get fucked Rube.

De nada, I haven't baked them myself; as they are a rare treat, as said, most often made for weddings. ¡buen provecho! ... I do know a good panadería, that sells them, though

Out of interest, is ginger ever used in this recipe?

Nope, there was a nickname for them, for the jueros... sorry, the average white person, which was 'Mexican Gingerbread', because of all the spices in them. I don't think ginger is native to my country, but it gets the point across that this is an intense flavored cookie to the novice. Not just sweet, but...
A fiesta in your mouth!

Cool. I will make sure it doesn't get into mine then.
I mustard mitt, every time I read about them being "gingerbread" without any ginger, I kept thinking the recipe I was looking at had an omission.

~Heh, well, I guess gingerbread is the European equivalent. Something about breads or cakes with strong spice flavors...
Mexican bread is another one;
You don't think of bread, as having a 'bite' like this one does. Something about the Latino physiology craves 'tang', thus so, we'll include it in the recipe.
...how a Chinese/American loves this?

I wasn't going to correct Gob, but he is Mexican/American, not Chinese/American.
He is getting married soon, so he's fiancé emailed his Mum to get some childhood favorite foods. We were provided with the above three recipes, as well as to perennial Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie recipes.
As I hadn't heard of these before, I had to make them.
I hope they taste as he remembers.

You are a shocker for identifying any racial mixtures.

No it isn't racist at all, saying someone looks Chinese/Irish/Mexican or whatever is not racist.

Except that the Chinese don't look Mexican, nor vice versa, except to the racist twats.

That's the trouble with dealing with morons, you have to struggle down to their level of intelligence.
Let's see if I can detune down to Lo’s levels of comprehension.
You are right "the Chinese" do not look Mexican, but there again, no one has claimed they do.
But to say "He looks Chinese" of a person who turns out to not be Chinese, is not, in any way, "racist."
