I have no such horror story to convey. I do recall the day I started. I had on a light blue pants suit which was stained. No card, no flowers or jewerly and no cake.

Any of you get the type of humiliation described in there?

OMG my mother, hadn't given me the 'birds and the bees' spiel, until after after my period had come, saying that for her it lasted three days.

Well, three days after my first 'blossoming', thinking I was done, I wore white corduroy pants...

Thats awful...Its horrifiying enough starting your period let alone sharing it with the entire family and celebrating the fact with a friggin ckae (i hope it was red velvet cake with pink buttercream icing!! )

I have never (knocking on wood here) have had any nasty white pants/skirt stories to tell....but my father was a sales rep for Lillia White aka Johnson & Johnson albeit there feminine hygiene part!! So there was no secrets in our house about that sorta thing particularly as my fathers nickname was.......Panty Pad Pete!!! lol

After reading a number of comments after that posting I really get the sense that I missed a bullet.

Why would anyone think a young girl would want that kind of attention?

God knows.

I know when my mum told my aunt (why, I still have no idea), my aunt was crying.

That also seemed a tad stupid to me.
