Just got this from my boss;
Hi all,
Just for those who are starting to plan Xmas time leave:
This is what has been confirmed by HR.

25/12/12 – Public Holiday
26/12/12 – Public Holiday
27/12/12 – Public Holiday
28/12/12 – Public Service Shut Down day
31/12/12 – Public Service Shut Down day
1/1/13 – Public Holiday

Cheers - Eva.
Though me and Hen are not planning a Xmas break this year, as Hatch is with her dad.

May have a week in Jan to go to the cricket / some comedy shows.

We've also got a long weekend (4 days off) next weekend, and I'm probably going to have a couple of days on my own down at the coast in mid-Nov, to go whale watching. (We'll have use of Mother Hen's car while she is away in China.)

Anyone planning their Xmas yet?

Given all the time you get off, how would they be able to tell? :P

We're off Dec 22 to Jan 2 for the annual holiday shutdown, it takes a significant number of people to keep the cleanroom and associated tools up and running so it makes sense to just close down rather than have too few people to get anything done.

Some Scrooge of a judge scheduled me to be in court on December 28 this year (and even worse, its a Friday afternoon, 2 PM hearing -- who is he kidding), so I will probably take off the 21st, travel on the 22nd, coming back to be in the office on the 27th and 28th, then off again the 31st through the 2nd. No major trips, since I've got Santa Fe scheduled for March...

People don't stop being mad for Xmas, quite the contrary, some get even worse. So as our team is a 365 day service, I may pick up a reasonable amount of double time over that period. The tight sods will want us to work "on call" on Xmas day and NYE though, you only get paid if you get called out.

Nope, just call out, which means staying sober, possibly for no reward, bastards.

Can't you go visit some relatives in Perth? That'd put the stop to their nefarious plan. And turn off the phone (there is a button that does that; I bet you can find it if you try hard!)

I can't say as I blame them.

Santa Fe is a great place. Lots of art galleries, some decent food, nice people.

Have a great time and send pictures!

If you have time head out west into the Navajo and Hopi nations.

Christmas is looking excellent for us.

On the 22nd we board the P&O Oceana in Southampton and head off to Bruges, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Gothenburg.

Christmas day is spent at sea, as we're travelling with Cookies parents and his sister, husband and niece we'll not miss out on the traditional present opening either.

Sounds lush Daisy, don't get seasick!!

Our roster is just out;
Dec
22 off
23 off
24 E
25 Ph
26 Ph
27 Ph
28 E
29 off
30 off
31 E
1 Ph
2 E
3 E
4 Off (My birthday.)

I could put in to have 24/12 and 28/12 off as annual leave , and thus get 11 days straight off, and only lose two leave days. But I'll wait and see what the others in the team want to do first.

Hen just dropped off Mother Hen at the airport. She's on a three week trip to China, taking in Beijing, The Wall, The Terracotta army, Yangtze River cruise, etc etc.

I'm envious.

Heh, and she is very nervous.

I am proud of her taking this trip by herself.

I hope she enjoys it.
