Dunno if any of you fellow Aussies know how we go about this?

We have a dog which we got through an advert free to good home...however hes microchipped and we need to change owners details....How?. How do we prove hes our dog and not nicked as he is a pedigree with no papers!! As the the owners we got him from got him from the pound. So they never got papers either? The old owners are moving/moved to NZ?

Any ideas??

I'm betting that there may be some poultry here who knows the answer to that one... ;)

I do know, too! Though things may have changed since I was involved in the Registers.

:-)

You will need to do is contact the microchip registry that is resposnsible for the implant. I am presuming it is either a Central Animal Records (https://www.car.com.au/) or with the National Pet Register ( http://www.petregister.com.au/ ). Each registry will have its own procedures for amending ownership of animals (and whether it can be done).

Explain your story of how the animal was obtained and see what they recommend. It may be able to be handled by the completion of a Statutory Declaration.
