Very good news for that Rubato person.

Well first off let me say that when you get to 100 years old you get roses for your birthday. And that's just the way it is if you're my lovely great auntie.
My lovely aunt Ida turns 101 on Sunday so I did what I did last year and ordered a nice bouquet of roses and carnations for her to be delivered on Friday. I had checked with my respected mother earlier in the week and she said that the address was the same and its a go for operation floral bombing. So I call Laurelhurst Florist in Portland (lovely people) and ordered the flowers to be delivered on Fri. (she's 101, every day counts. no reason to wait.) Anyhow I get a call from the Florist late Friday that they don't have a lovely Aunt Ida there at the delivery address and why are they leaving flowers ? Phone calls to aged but respected mother yield no current info. Finally today I manage to back track and find out that she is now in an assisted living facility just up the street and she got the flowers after all, delight ensued, and alls well in the end.
And that was my good moment for the day.

When I turn 100 yrs old (or more) I hope that if anyone really cares about buying me something I get something better than some lousy roses.
I'd prefer a brand new iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac type of gadget or any other brand that keeps me in touch with people who might be able to help me when I fall down and can't get up.
And most of all - I would like a day spent with members of my family who care about me.
Screw the roses!

Like a lot of centenarians my auntie is a Seventh-Day-Adventist and thus is a vegetarian and has never smoked tobacco or drunk alcohol. My antecendants on the other side of the family lived similarly long lives.
My paternal grand-mere lived to 103 and my maternal grand-pere shuffled off this mortal coil at 98.
So, fuck you.

Personally I wasn't going to post anything critical or snarky in this thread, seeing as how it was one of the few you've started that didn't have an obviously insulting purpose....(though Lord knows you have made gratuitous snarky and insulting comments in
numerous innocuous threads started by
others..which is why you got the responses you got in this thread.)
In fact I was even thinking of perhaps coming to your defense a bit....

Based on your family's history of living long lives, it seems very likely that you will have the ability to irritate other people on the internet for a much longer time than the average person.
Only an asshole would see something positive in that.

Congrats to your aunt rubato on making it to a century plus one. My Grandmother made it til 96 although the last few years, she really wasn't here (dimentia). I do have to say that IMHO a personal visit means more than flowers but I guess it's the thought counts and if she enjoyed them, well that's what is important.

I do (grandparents sibling FYI) I believe she's in her 90's IIRC lost her husband 2 years ago. See her at least once a year.
