Sports marketing expert Bob Dorfman with San Francisco's Baker Street Advertising says the park will thrill cricket fans but will be a tough sell to a general public unfamiliar with the sport.
Ya think so, duh!

You're all too quick to judge this great game.
Cricket. A game that is best enjoyed on a warm sunny afternoon with a cold beer, a scorecard and a laid back attitude. Sport doesn't have to be adrenaline fuelled nut jobs wearing more armour than a type 2 challenger tank, you should give it a go.

Hurling and Rugby I would go watch not cricket. unless I have not slept in a week

That's how we enjoy baseball. Except that one cold $8.00 beer isn't enough for most of us so it's expensive to get drunk at a ballpark.
So what does the average American do?
We either bring a lot of money to the game or stay home and watch it on TV.
Either way we usually pass out before the game is over.

I think a lot of the appeal of Cricket is similar to that of NASCAR....
Since nothing much ever happens at either event, (guys standing out on a field doing nothing, cars going around in circles for hours) they serve as a good excuse to get pleasantly potted socializing with friends since they don't require much attention from the attendees to follow the "action"....

To be serious (which is often difficult) I doubt anyone can appreciate the game of cricket unless they grew up watching and/or playing it - exactly the same as baseball.
I'll never learn to appreciate cricket. Appreciating Marmite is about as close as I'm able get to that.

Well then that is that. Not a snowball's chance in hell of me ever liking cricket if it is in any way similar to NASCAR which I loathe beyond description.
As for baseball, well I have been to pro games and I have been to the semi-pro games. Pro ball is a bore. I love going to Indians games here in Indy. There is a real bang (stop it) for your buck chunk of entertainment. Plan on getting to a few games this summer.

We have the Long Island Ducks and the Brooklyn Cyclones minor/independent league teams. Much more fan friendly and wallet friendly.

The park will have space for Gaelic football, rugby, hurling and other sports popular overseas.

Indianapolis was the first city to see the sweaty convention business (attracting sporting events of all types) as an avenue of economic development. As the first to try this strategy in a substantial way by investing in sports facilities, they were very successful through the 1980s and 1990s in bringing in many events, often with thousands of competitors and families staying for a week or so. This looks like a continuation of that strategy -- an attempt to be a leading site for these niche sports (in America).

Did you know that hurling is the second fastest game in the world?
Some would have you believe that it's the fastest but they've obviously never played pass the parcel in a Belfast pub...
