Thanks for that Joe, I've taken the blooper out of my link now as well.
Cheers mate!

I have a nephew who lives in those hills, and the roads are definitely twisty and windy. Didn't notice any staircases, but then they are hidden. We have staircases like that in the Portland hills, one right by me goes 300 feet down to the river. No glamorous stars here, though.

No, no, no, no, no, not "Bank Manager," it's far too crawly bum-lick. Tell it like it is, put "Fascist Bullyboy!"
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again: "If you're going to be that sycophantic, why don't you go 'round there now and stick your tongue straight down the back of his trousers?"
and
He'll never understand "Boom Shanka," you'll have to write the whole thing out.
Right, okay, here we go. "Darling Fascist Bullyboy, Give me some more money, you bastard. May the seed of your loin be fruitful in the belly of your woman, Neil."
oldr - shouldn't that be "Please 'spain, Rucy?"

This is one of the things I like about this place...
Occasionally I learn something new, and I love learning new things...
I was completely unfamiliar with this bit of LA history; nice article.

Would have been a cool place to grow up. Playing hide n seek on all those stairs. Of course kids don't play outside anymore, video games are the rave.

Re: Exploring Los Angeles' forgotten stairways to the stars
I could write and star in that show.
I was just lamenting the other day how when I moved to my current domicile 28 years ago, the main road through town was only two lanes (one in each direction) and there were just two traffic lights in the mile long span. Now it's four lanes with wide shoulders and there are 5 traffic lights (3 in between the original 2) and how if you time it incorrectly, it take you over 5 minutes to go that mile.
When did underpants become a fashion statement? pull your pants up dickweed
It's 85 degrees out, what's with wearing a sweatshirt with the hood pulled up?
Your a middle class white kid, stop trying to be a gangster.
And it's spelled G-A-N-G-S-T-E-R not G-A-N-G-S-T-A
And don't any of these so called "stars" have last names?
When did it become "fashionable" to wear pajamas out and about?
I have yet to meet a housewife like any of the "Real Houswives of.......". Not one.
There were no "play dates" when I was growing up. You went to the other kids house, knocked on the door and asked if he wanted to come out and do something (play ball, build a fort, wander around aimlessly, etc)
You dated when you were in your teens (if you were lucky, you got to "play" with your date)

That reminds me of something I heard PJ O'Rourke say in a radio interview a few years ago when he was asked if he had any advice for "young people". He said :When did underpants become a fashion statement? pull your pants up dickweed
"Yes. Pull your pants up, turn your cap around, and get a job."...

Shorter oldr: "Hey you kids, get off my lawn!"

GAH!
Re: Exploring Los Angeles' forgotten stairways to the stars
When I was a kid I am reasonably certain that if you walked down the street with your underware exposed a fine would be the result.
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.
Re: Exploring Los Angeles' forgotten stairways to the stars
A fine? For what? Hell, in a world that permitted plumbers--even those who worked on outside spigots and sprinklers--I doubt that would be the case. How bad was seeing an underwear waistband compared to a plumber's waxing crescent or--worse--full moon?

I don't think a fine would be the penalty but a wedgie was definately coming.Miles wrote:When I was a kid I am reasonably certain that if you walked down the street with your underware exposed a fine would be the result.
